Actress Daisy Campbell has played Amelia Spencer in the ITV soap since she was seven but will soon be departing from the show
Emmerdale actress Daisy Campbell has opened up about feeling “hurt” after being dropped from the popular ITV soap.
At just seven years of age, the 21-year-old began portraying Amelia Spencer on Emmerdale and quickly became a household name. However, this year brought an abrupt end to her time on the show as the producers chose to phase out her character.
Despite her involvement in the gripping Belle and Tom King storyline that captivated audiences, Daisy’s character, Amelia, will make her last appearance in the Dales tonight (December 20). Speaking to Ranvir Singh, filling in on ITV’s Lorraine, Daisy discussed the emotions she experienced upon learning she was leaving the show.
She commented: “Yeah, I definitely felt hurt, taken aback, really. Just shocked, like I couldn’t stop shaking!”
“But you know, time’s passed, I got on with the storyline, put everything in that I could because it was my last,” reports Leeds Live.
The star further shared: “It’s been a difficult year; I think I’ve always taken pride in this job. Obviously, it’s not just been my home but it’s where I’ve learnt my craft and it’s something I’m going to take on with me what I’ve learnt into other jobs.
“So it was at the beginning of the year, I didn’t see it coming. It’s been a really tough year but I’ve done loads of work on myself and put myself first. But I definitely feel like I’m finally in a place where I’ve healed,” she added.
Despite facing challenges this year, Daisy shared some positive news about her career trajectory with Ranvir. The actress opened up about her recent endeavours.
In a heartfelt confession, Daisy admitted she didn’t foresee such a quick turnaround in her schedule post-departure. She confessed: “So I didn’t expect to work till next year because I’ve left so close to Christmas, I’ve never done anything else, I’m new to the industry basically outside of soap but I’m excited to have filmed something a couple of weeks ago.”
Daisy also teased that she’s set to announce a new endeavour this week.
