Emmerdale’s Cain faces the music as he’s consumed with guilt – and there’s worse to come

Emmerdale spoilers follow for Thursday’s (November 21) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has faced the consequences of his actions as he was taken in for questioning following the attack on Jimmy King (Nick Miles).

The ITV soap’s resident hard-man, as viewers know, struggled with the possibility of losing wife Moira (Natalie J Robb), who had to undergo brain surgery to have a tumour removed.

With his wife in theatre, Cain left the hospital and proceeded to lash out at the world, getting drunk and attacking Jimmy, who claimed that Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) was lying about Tom (James Chase) abusing her.

But that’s not at all that transpired during the offering of the show in question as Cain also cheated on Moira with Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) in a contentious twist that has left fans beside themselves.

The guilt of what he did weighed heavily on him in Thursday’s (November 21) hour-long visit to the village as he went to see Moira, who was recovering in hospital following a successful operation.

Jimmy, meanwhile, paid a visit to the local GP surgery for treatment following Cain’s attack.

Nicola (Nicola Wheeler), who moved out of Victoria Cottage and into Mulberry earlier this month, was horrified to see her husband in such a state and, despite their difference of opinion on Tom, she opted to move back home, urging Jimmy to call the police over Cain’s attack.

Jimmy took his wife’s advice, with Cain being carted off by the police while at the hospital, with the scenes unfolding in front of an appalled Moira.

Cain refrained from answering any questions, simply stating ‘no comment’, before returning to the hospital, where Moira’s doctor informed him that his wife needs a stress-free environment and as much support as possible in order to ensure her recovery.

This made Cain feel all the more guilty over what he did.

Despite having seemingly got away with his attack on Jimmy – for now, anyway – there’s more heartbreak to come as soap law decrees that all secrets must be revealed so it really is only a matter of time before Moira finds out about her husband’s betrayal.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
