Emmerdale villain Ben Addis to make major TV return after Lydia and Craig terror

Ben Addis, who played Craig Reed in Emmerdale, will be starring in a new TV series

Emmerdale actor Ben Addis, known for his role as villain Craig Reed in the ITV soap, has secured a part in a major TV series following his departure from Emmerdale last year. Craig Reed was introduced as an old acquaintance of Lydia Dingle (played by Karen Blick).

Craig and Lydia rekindled their friendship after bumping into each other at a jobs fair. However, in a distressing storyline, Craig raped Lydia, leading to her struggling to cope. The character eventually faced justice, with Cain and Sam Dingle attacking him before he met a gruesome end, courtesy of Kim Tate’s horse, which kicked Craig in the head. The character’s final scenes were broadcast in October 2023.

Ben, who also had a stint in Hollyoaks, is set to appear in the forthcoming TV series Paris Has Fallen. This show is a spin-off of the successful Has Fallen film franchise, which started with Olympus Has Fallen.

The franchise includes 2016’s London Has Fallen and 2019’s Angel Has Fallen, while the fourth film, Night Has Fallen, is still awaiting a release date, reports the Mirror.

However, the TV series Paris Has Fallen is scheduled to hit screens on 23 September. The series will be available for streaming on Canal+ and will also be released on Amazon Video.

Ben is set to play a character named Oscar in the upcoming series, according to IMDb. He’ll be sharing the screen with Tewfik Jallab, Rity Arya, Ana Ularu, Camille Rutherford, Jeremie Covillault, Emmanuelle Bercot, Karl Collins, and Nathan Willcocks.

The series was conceived and penned by Howard Overman, with Hans Herbots and Oded Ruskin directing the episodes.

Paris Has Fallen delves into a political conspiracy that puts France and its allies at risk. It tracks terrorist leader Jacob Pearce as he targets high-ranking French politicians, threatening to reveal their hidden secrets.

When Jacob strikes at a significant political event, protection officer Vincent Taleb and MI6 agent Zara Taylor join forces to thwart his plans.

The plot thickens as Vincent and Zara grasp the magnitude of Jacob’s schemes and start to suspect a mole within their security services team. With Jacob always seeming to be one step ahead, and Vincent and Zara grappling with trust issues within their team, it’s uncertain how events will unfold.

This will be the first instalment in the Has Fallen franchise not to feature Gerard Butler, who portrays Mike Banning in the films. Although he won’t appear in the TV series, he is slated to reprise his role in three more feature films.
