Emmerdale fans think they know which character is messaging Manpreet Sharma in a blackmail storyline, after she revealed her secret to Ella Forster on the ITV soap

There’s a shocking blackmail plot unfolding on Emmerdale with poor Manpreet Sharma being targeted with nasty messages it seems.

After her secret was exposed in a flashback on Thursday night, spoilers have revealed that she ends up being blackmailed by someone. Next week she tries to figure out who is targeting her, with fans already predicting they know who it is.

Viewers who have watched Friday’s episode of the ITV soap, available now on ITVX before it airs at 7:30PM on ITV1 in the evening, will know exactly what her secret is and who knows. Warning, the rest of this article contains spoilers from Friday’s episode so look away now if you want to avoid finding out what goes down.

Manpreet confides in Ella Forster about her secret before admitting she is being blackmailed. Recent scenes and the possible exit of Ella, before even seeing Friday’s episode, left many fans wondering if Ella would be to blame.

But perhaps Friday dismisses this theory, and now fans think someone else could be behind it. A recent scene spotted by eagle-eyed viewers showed someone seemingly watching Manpreet.

The person was not shown in full, concealing their identity but we did see a brown coat and black gloves. It would appear this same person is the one messaging Manpreet and her blackmailer.

On Friday night Manpreet was alarmed and scared as she continued to receive messages on her phone which she tried to hide. As she spoke with colleague Ella, we saw some messages that read: “I know your dirty secret, do your patients know what you’ve been up to?”

After failing to figure out who it was she blocked the number only to receive another message that read: “Blocking a number won’t work I’m going nowhere.” Ella then pressed and pressed for details realising something was wrong, and Manpreet revealed all.

She admitted she had uploaded pictures of herself online before being convinced to sign up to a subscription site. She said the images, suggesting to Ella they were of the racy kind, made her feel empowered and validated but now someone is threatening to leak them.

In the episode we saw her panic as she showed Ella the threats, as the texter warned her not to go to the police. They showed her they had copies of the images and would be in touch with their demands.

But who is out to get Manpreet and why? Some fans think Ella is too obvious, and the fact she clearly wasn’t sending the messages then and there could prove she is innocent.

Now fans think it could be her ex Charles Anderson or his mother Claudette, or maybe even Anthony Fox – despite the fact Anthony was seemingly murdered recently. Another theory is it could be the new character joining the show called Kammy or another character who recently appeared on the show.

In a bigger twist, fans think cash-strapped Tracy Robinson could be behind it. One theory read: “I wonder if it’s the same website Mandy Dingle was on last year. Manpreet’s blackmailer could be Ella and this is why she leaves or Tracy who needs money. Leyla could have told Suzy who then told Vanessa who maybe told Tracy or she overheard Suzy/Vanessa talking.”

Another theory said: “Part of me thinks it is too obvious to be Ella even though she would be the perfect person? Could it actually be Tracy? Although she was blackmailed in the past so I don’t know.”

A third fan wrote: “Charles as her last words in Leyla’s flashback she said about all the little secrets she said vicar so I guess she was confessing lol.” A fourth fan posted: “Didn’t that weird bloke at the memorial service not long ago have a brown coat on too?” as a fifth said: “Who was watching her when she got the text? Smallish hands in black leather gloves! Claudette?”

The comments kept on coming with one reading: “Vicar’s mum,” as another added: “Something to do with the newcomer.” Another fan said: “I thought Anthony as he wore a brown coat and black glove same feeling,” as another added: “Didn’t that Anthony wear gloves and a brown coat but he is dead so won’t be him. Charles wears gloves in fact quite a lot of male characters wear gloves.”
