Emmerdale uproar as fans uncover blunder in Samson Dingle’s assault case

Emmerdale fans were left rather distracted after spotting a major blunder on the ITV soap involving Samson Dingle and Josh Cope, as they accused the show of having “poor writing”.

Emmerdale viewers were left bemused after spotting a gaffe with Samson Dingle and Josh Cope in the soap this week.

In recent scenes, Samson (played by Sam Hall) was seen gearing up for his plea hearing ahead of a court case that could see him put behind bars. The youngster is facing jail time after he revealed the truth about being stabbed by Matty (Ash Palmsiciano).

Bad boy Josh (Osian Morgan) and Samson had tried to rob The Hide, but things went south fast when Josh shoved Samson into Matty, who had a knife, leading to Samson getting a nasty stab wound. The duo claimed Matty did it on purpose, ultimately landing him in jail.

However, Samson couldn’t keep up the lie and owned up, proving Matty’s innocence while keeping hush about Josh’s part in the mess, reports the Manchester Evening News. In Monday’s episode (August 5), Samson squared up to Josh, who revealed his reason for targeting “freak” Matty, who he claimed was “asking to be robbed.”

As Josh walked away after their scuffle, Samson was gearing up to fight him. Later on, viewers saw the police arriving and arresting Samson for assault based on a tip-off and footage from locals’ doorbell cams.

Eagle-eyed fans, however, were quick to call out a glaring error in the storyline. Fans flocked online to discuss a massive plot hole, noting that should the police look at the doorbell cam, they’d have caught Josh’s confession on tape.

One eagle-eyed viewer posted on a Facebook Emmerdale fan page: “Am sorry if I’m being stupid but if the police have checked Eric’s ring doorbell wouldn’t they have heard Josh confession?”. Another chimed in with: “Apology accepted. Another weak piece of writing imo.”
