Emmerdale actress Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira Dingle on the ITV soap, has penned an emotional statement after her latest heartbreaking storyline.
Emmerdale actress Natalie J Robb has penned an emotional statement after her character Moira Dingle’s latest heartbreaking storyline.
Moira was recently diagnosed with a type of brain tumour called a meningioma, explaining why she has been suffering symptoms such as confusion, memory loss, seizures and changes to her personality.
While Moira’s tumour is non-cancerous, she is left feeling apprehensive about her future and concerned about the possibility of surgery and other treatments.
The Moira actress took to Instagram to share an emotional message from a fan.
The message read: “I haven’t watched Emmerdale in years (although my mum is a huge fan) but I have started watching again to follow your storyline. I was diagnosed as having a left temporal lobe meningioma on 1st October last year following what we now know to have been my first & fingers crossed only ever epileptic seizure.
“It is such an important storyline to tell and fingers crossed will raise some much needed awareness of brain tumours and maybe some funds for the amazing charities that do research into them and also support patients and their families.”

Clearly touched by the message, Natalie shared a caption saying she has been “humbled” by the personal message she has been receiving from fans.
She wrote: “Whilst Moira’s storyline and character in @emmerdale is true to life, the true heroes are those who are affected in real life by a brain tumour.
I have been humbled to read your personal stories over the last few days, these are just a few of many.”
She went on to promote raising awareness of the condition, saying, “If we can get people talking, find support and raise awareness, then it’s job well done as far as I am concerned. Remember the following charities are here to help and support… @brainstrustuk @thebraintumourcharity.”
Emmerdale has worked closely on the storyline with charities Brains Trust and The Brain Tumour Charity, both of which will continue to “support the production team to give Moira’s story a realistic and authentic depiction”.

Speaking of the storyline, Natalie shared: “I feel really fortunate to be trusted with such a challenging storyline.
“Moira and her family have an extremely challenging time ahead, and I’m hoping I can portray it in a truthful way that does justice to all the people who are really suffering with a brain tumour.”
The episode saw Moira undergo a scan after suffering another seizure in hospital, following the fire at the barn.
With Cain by her side, she ultimately received grave news that the scan had identified a mass on her brain.
