Emmerdale fans were taken aback to learn that Danny Miller, who portrays Aaron Dingle in the popular ITV soap, is the son of a showbiz legend.
Since his first appearance in 2008, Danny quickly became a beloved character on the programme, embroiled in major plotlines ranging from passionate love affairs to shocking criminal acts and prison sentences.
However, it’s not just Danny who’s in the spotlight; his father, Vince Miller, 90, is also a well-known figure in the entertainment industry.
Known as the ‘king of comperes’, Vince served as the VIP host at Manchester United for an impressive nearly three decades.
His stint at Old Trafford lasted 29 years, during which he regularly interviewed football legend Sir Alex Ferguson.
Over his 65-year career, Vince rubbed shoulders with celebrities like Johnny Mathis and Shirley Bassey, and even gave a eulogy at Bernard Manning’s funeral.
At the age of 82, Vince announced his retirement to the Manchester Evening News, stating: “I’ve no upset about it, the time is now to get out while you’re on top, you don’t want people saying ‘not him again!'”, according to the Mirror.
During a heartfelt moment at a charity event celebrating his retirement, Danny paid homage to his father Vince, calling him the “best in the business”.
The seasoned entertainer, Vince took the stage to reflect on his varied career, sharing with the audience.
He said: “I’ve had a great career, I’ve done it all as a presenter, comedian, singer, I’ve been very fortunate. As Edith Piaf said, Je Ne Regrette Rien, no regrets.”
Vince has also openly expressed his pride for Danny’s success in the entertainment world, previously saying: “He’s doing so very well and he’s done it all himself so now he’s up there. I’m so proud.”
Fans were left stunned upon discovering the identity of Danny’s famous dad.
A photo shared on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page sparked a flurry of comments, with one fan asking: “His dad is quite well known I believe round the clubs in the North West?” Another quickly identified Vince, commenting: “Just realised who it is! Wow.”
A third chimed in: “Immediately thought of his dad being a club singer, does anybody know” After another user confirmed Vince’s identity, they replied: “I thought so! “.
Danny recently shared an emotional video on social media, capturing a touching moment with his beloved father who is battling dementia. The heartwarming footage shows them singing in unison at a celebration, and Danny affectionately wrote alongside the post: “A son and his hero singing through dementia. He remembered every word.”
He added: “Dad, you certainly did it your way. Happy 90th Pal. One to treasure… and still remembers every word.”
