Emmerdale star admits ‘there’s a lot to think about’ as she addresses ITV soap future

Emmerdale’s Amy Barton has life-changing news for Matty in upcoming scenes

Emmerdale is set to kick start a new storyline for broody Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson) as she makes a big decision for her and husband Matty (Ash Palmisciano).

The couple tied the knot last year and they appear to be living in wedded bliss. Their marriage grew even stronger when Matty was wrongfully jailed thanks to a stabbing allegation from Samson Dingle (Sam Hall), but a bombshell could change everything.

Next week, Amy helps out Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) and looks after Frankie Robinson alongside Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb). But taking care of young Frankie makes Amy want to have a child with Matty leaving Moira surprised at her daughter-in-law’s admission.

Moira encourages Amy, who is mum to Kyle (Huey Quinn), to talk to Matty about wanting to become parents together. She nervously drops the bombshell that adoption could be on the cards.

Matty is left surprised by Amy and struggles to take in the enormity of his wife’s idea. While she nervously encourages him to think about adoption, Matty ends the conversation and heads off to think.

Amy is left feeling guilty about springing her excitement on Matty and hopes that her husband will consider the idea of adding a child to their family. Will Matty and Amy end up on the same page when it comes to their future, or is Amy set for disappointment?

Teasing her character Amy’s upcoming scenes and her future with Matty, Natalie Ann Jamieson explained: “She is playing with Frankie, and Frankie is being very very cute and she gets a little bit broody and Moira spots it straight away.

“I think this all happens very fast for Amy, it happens there and then. She’s just like ‘oh my goodness this is what I want and I want it with Matty’.”

The soap star added: “Obviously she loves Kyle and he is her everything, she’s always regretted not being there when he was little. I think if she could have that opportunity again to be there for somebody, and do it properly, I think that would be amazing for Amy.”

Amy wastes no time in finding a family home ready to expand her family without running it past Matty first. Will he agree to her grand plan?

Natalie Ann adds: “They are meant to be saving money to buy a house but instead she has spoken to Kim and she’s renting a house instead.

“She wants it now, she wants it immediately so she can put this plan into action. It’s a surprise to Matty.”
