‘Ruby has always been troubled and volatile in nature and finally our audience will be able to learn more about the past that has haunted her’
Emmerdale fans will learn Ruby was a victim of sexual violence in distressing scenes.
Emmerdale spoilers inform viewers Ruby, played by Beth Cordingly, was a victim of sexual violence as a child. In flashback scenes, the drama will depict Ruby’s 16th birthday party where the audience will see a glimpse of her tragic past, although the scenes are not graphic in content.
What happened to Ruby as a child is unknown to her husband Caleb, played by William Ash, as she has buried the trauma as a coping mechanism.
However, with the arrival in the village of her estranged daughter Steph, played by Georgia Jay, Ruby’s life has spiralled out of control as those painful memories have resurfaced and flooded her thoughts and explains why she pushed Steph away as a child.
Emmerdale producer, Laura Shaw, said: “Ruby has always been troubled and volatile in nature and finally our audience will be able to learn more about the past that has haunted her and made Ruby the woman she is today.”
