Emmerdale is lining up some huge moments on the ITV soap next week, mainly stepping away from the Joe Tate, limo crash and Nate Robinson plots – meaning new twists and turns

There’s a fair few Emmerdale twists ahead next week, with an overdose horror, some sad news for one resident and a revenge plan.

There’s also a blackmailer hint and the truth about someone’s mystery secret. Viewers will also see heartbreaking scenes for one family, while more than one resident faces temptation.

It all airs in the fallout to Joe Tate’s secret possibly being revealed, Nate Robinson’s murder being unearthed and the deadly limo crash which killed Amy Wyatt, Leyla Harding, and Suzy Merton. Tracy Robinson, Manpreet Sharma and Mary Goskirk all do feature in upcoming scenes next week, as this week sees their secrets seemingly coming to light.

But even this trio are not the main focus of the week, minus Manpreet where there’s a big update. But we’ll kick things off with newcomer Dylan, who is rushed to hospital after an overdose next week following his recent arrival.

His close friend April Windsor is dealing with her own heartache following the sad stillbirth of her baby daughter who she has chosen to name Rebecca, after a secret pregnancy that led to her running away from home. April is keen to keep Dylan around her after they met and bonded during her time on the streets.

But April’s worried father Marlon Dingle and her close friend Ross Barton are still concerned about Dylan being around especially when it emerges he’s been taking spice and is struggling to come off of it. So when some ketamine goes missing from the vets, all fingers point to Dylan.

He denies this only for it to be found in his coat pocket, leaving April stung. But when Marlon later confesses to wife Rhona it’s him that took it to set up Dylan, wanting him out the way, Rhona is stunned but before they can do anything about it, there’s some worrying news.

Dylan is rushed to hospital and is in a critical condition after an overdose, leaving Marlon distraught and guilty. He decides against telling April the truth after their relationship hit trouble recently, and instead Marlon offers to pay for Dylan to go to rehab.

Marlon is relieved when Dylan agrees to cover up what really happened, but will the truth come out when April visits Dylan in rehab? Elsewhere, baby Rebecca’s funeral arrives and April can’t face it and declares she wants nothing to do with the service, or the scattering of Rebecca’s ashes – but will she change her mind?

Another big plot next week is the moment Steph Miligan seeks revenge over her grandfather Anthony Fox’s disappearance, and she could shop her own parents Ruby and Caleb to the police. She is yet to find out Anthony is her real dad and that he raped her mother Ruby, Anthony’s daughter, when she was a teenager.

Steph also has no idea Ruby has killed him and a group of villagers have covered up the crime, disposing of his body. But when Steph finds a gun next week she decides her father Caleb is guilty, and that both her parents know something and must pay.

With Caleb enlisting Ross to stop Steph from digging any further, Ross shocks him with the news that Steph is planning to report him and Ruby to the police for their involvement in Anthony disappearing. Could this be the moment she finds out the horrifying truth?

Elsewhere in the village and there’s a sad twist for Sarah Sugden who is left devastated by some news after her pregnancy bombshell. Sarah will learn she is pregnant according to a test in upcoming scenes, but next week as she visits the doctors she’s told it was a false alarm.

Sarah is distraught given her shortened life expectancy, fearing that she’s missed out on her only chance of a family. Finally next week it’s revealed Manpreet is being blackmailed amid her mystery secret that is set to be revealed this week.

But who is out to get her and why? Dawn Taylor is still tempted by Joe, while her rejected husband Billy Fletcher faces temptation of his own. Kim Tate faces a shock, and Tracy fears the worst about her financial woes when Eric Pollard summons her to the Woolpack for a chat.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.*
