Katie Hill is well known for her role as Sarah Sugden on Emmerdale and the star has played the role since 2017
Emmerdale actress Katie Hill is well known for her role as Sarah Sugden on the ITV hit soap. The star, 22, has played the role since 2017 and has become the fifth actress to portray the daughter of Debbie Dingle and Andy Sugden.
This was Katie’s first television debut after previously starring in theatre and musical roles and it’s safe to say she has been involved in a number of dramatic storylines over the years.
Most recently in a shock twist, her character Sarah was dealt a heartbreaking blow after believing she was pregnant. During recent episodes, Sarah took a pregnancy test following her tumultuous on-off relationship with Jacob Gallagher, which showed a positive result.

After sharing her news with grandmother Charity Dingle, Sarah planned to inform Jacob, but he ended their relationship abruptly as he mourns the loss of his mother Leyla Harding, who died in a limousine crash.
Elsewhere, doctor Manpreet Sharma conducted additional tests to confirm Sarah’s pregnancy. However, in a distressing turn of events, Manpreet revealed that Sarah was not pregnant.
The doctor suggested that her medication could have interfered with the test result or that she may have misread the results. Despite all the drama going on in the village, actress Katie lives a less drama-filled life away from our TV screens…
Katie’s unknown singing career
Katie previously blew soap fans away with her cover of Almost is Never Enough by Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes on Emmerdale’s YouTube channel.
The actress also went on to cover various songs on her Instagram and in 2024 she released her debut single, Bitter Sweet. Posting a video back in August, she titled it with: “Bittersweet out now<3 link in my bio x.”
Katie added: “Hey guys, just back making another video to let you know that song I showed you all a clip of a few weeks ago is now out on Spotify and all other streaming platforms”, encouraging her 105K followers to “go have a listen” and let her know what they think.
The star was flooded with sweet support by many of her Emmerdale co-stars as Amelia Spencer star Daisy Campbell said: “Yayy so proud of you” with a heart emoji while Lawrence Robb, who plays Mackenzie Boyd, added: “The song is gorgeous! Well done!” with heart emojis.

Katie’s future on the show
Speaking about her favourite storyline over the past eight years, Katie explained: “I can’t think of a specific one but you know just stepping into her Dingle side.
“You’ll see a lot more of that this year and doing fun things like that is what I enjoy the most. I’ve enjoyed all the stuff you’re going to see this year.”
Her character Sarah is set to build a relationship with newcomer Kammy, who makes a notable entrance by stealing a quad bike from Moira’s farm.
Speaking about her new co-star, Katie teased: “I can’t wait for the audience to meet Kammy – he’s a really fun character and a great addition to the village.
“We might even see him and Sarah get up to a bit of mischief together… It has been great having Shebz join the cast and he’s been brilliant to work with!”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays
