Emmerdale Ross Barton’s love interest ‘sealed’ ahead of return – and it’s not who you think

Emmerdale’s Ross Barton will be back in the Dales soon and fans think they have worked out his love interest

Emmerdale’s Ross Barton, played by Michael Parr, is set to return to the village and fans have ‘worked out’ his new love interest that fans will recognise.

Ross, the notorious bad boy, is making his way back to Emmerdale six years after his departure. Michael Parr first graced the popular ITV soap in 2013, where he was known for his turbulent relationships, notably with Debbie Dingle, portrayed by Charley Webb.

In 2018, Ross left Emmerdale alongside Rebecca White (Emily Head) and her son Sebastian White, to start afresh in Liverpool. Despite his absence, Ross has been frequently mentioned due to his son Moses, who he shares with Charity, played by Emma Atkins.

This month, it was announced that Michael will be reprising his role as Ross later this year. It’s hinted that his return will reopen old wounds and potentially spark new rivalries.

Fans are speculating that Ross will come back single, but with a surprise new love interest already lined up. Online chatter suggests that he will strike up a romance with Tracy Metcalfe, played by Amy Walsh, reports Leeds Live.

Tracy has recently suffered heartbreak after her estranged husband Nate Robinson, played by Jurell Carter, left the Dales to start a new life in Scotland. However, with Ross’ return on the horizon, viewers believe a romance between him and Tracy could be brewing.

Emmerdale enthusiasts on a Facebook fan page have been speculating about Ross Barton’s romantic prospects upon his return to the show, with one fan suggesting: “Who thinks Ross Barton’s first girlfriend will be Tracey?”

Another follower echoed this sentiment: “I’ve been thinking that too.” A third person contributed their prediction: “Quite possibly! ” While another opined: “Probably but I hope not, he’s too nice for her anyway.”

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Michael Parr, who plays Ross, reached out to fans following the announcement of his return: “Hi Twits, it’s been a while. Can’t believe it’s been six years since I was last on set in the Dales. Very excited to be back. Do you think Ross will be a good boy or do you think he’s here to cause trouble? Let me know in the comments.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
