Emmerdale’s latest episode may have confirmed who is and isn’t behind the cruel harassment Manpreet Sharma is facing over some racy content she posted online on the ITV soap

Manpreet Sharma’s blackmail ordeal continued on Emmerdale on Tuesday evening, and now fans think they know who is, or at least who isn’t, behind it.

She revealed to Ella Forster last week how she’d been posting empowering content of herself online, before moving to a subscription website. Uploading images of herself in lingerie and other snaps she said made her feel validated, she was left horrified when someone began targeting her over the content.

She’s been getting messages from a mystery blackmailer who is yet to make their demands. Instead they are threatening Manpreet and warning her from going to the police, threatening to leak the images of her to people she knows.

With Manpreet keen not to let them win, fans will see her continue to try and keep it all under wraps while also refusing to be threatened. In scenes on Tuesday night, as revealed by Manpreet actress Rebecca Sarker, an image was sent in an envelope to the surgery where the GP works.

In the envelope was a racy image of Manpreet as well as a note that read: “I do not make idle threats. No police.” The envelope had been found by Ella who also works there, amid Ella, Charles Anderson, John Sugden and Joe Tate all facing suspicions from fans.

Manpreet was devastated and feared what would have happened had it been a colleague or her boss Liam Cavanagh who found it. Ella encouraged her once again to call their bluff but Manpreet fumed, fearing she had made matters worse.

They still have yet to reveal what it is they want from Manpreet, while new spoilers have suggested it’s money. Manpreet ends up telling Joe about her ordeal after a misunderstanding, and it seems she’s forced to meet someone to pay them off.

But will she find a familiar face when she sees them, or is it a stranger? Some viewers now believe it is not Ella or anyone we’ve already met. While some fans questioned if it was Wendy Posner after her recent schemes, many viewers believe it is an entirely new character that has no links to the village.

One viewer posted online: “I’m starting to think we don’t know the mystery blackmailer targeting Manpreet and that it could be a stranger.” A second fan added: “Maybe a new character,” as a third viewer posted: “I’m thinking maybe we haven’t met them yet.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
