Emmerdale’s Natalie J Robb has discussed the future for her character Moira Dingle and husband Cain Dingle as the couple face another hurdle in upcoming ITV scenes
Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb has revealed what’s next for Cain Dingle as he grapples with his wife’s health crisis. Following Moira Dingle’s devastating brain tumour diagnosis, the ITV soap has shown the couple facing incredibly tough times, and Moira will soon undergo surgery in a dramatic episode airing next week.
According to spoilers, Cain is consumed by the fear of losing Moira and, overwhelmed with emotion, he loses control in the garage, struggling to cope with the uncertain future ahead. Discussing the plot, Natalie shared: “They are both terrified. He’s very scared of losing her and when Cain is out of control that’s when Cain does things that’s out of control.”
Natalie added: “Moira is absolutely terrified because she could never see her kids again and obviously she’s already experienced loss. It’s really about her kids and losing them is at the forefront.”
The actress also praised the on-screen chemistry between Moira and Cain, saying: “Moira and Cain have a great chemistry on-screen. There’s something about it just really works. I think it’s really important that they stay together. I’ve had this chat with Iain MacLeod when we were talking about marriages.”
Natalie continued: “Marriages go through things. There’s temptations and there’s things that can happen but if everybody just gave up after the first hurdle then people would just not get married.”, reports Leicestershire Live.
“I do believe people go through challenges in marriages and people change and I think it’s interesting to see those things happen and see what brought you together in the first place.”
Natalie J. Robb, who has portrayed Moira for 15 years on Emmerdale, was asked about her most challenging scenes during her tenure. She revealed a nerve-wracking experience with co-star Jeff Hordley while filming.
She explained: “I think the Holly [Barton] death as well (as Moira’s brain tumour storyline) because I don’t have children in real life I had to find the truth in that. I think Holly, then this.
“I think Moira has had quite a lot of full-on things. If it isn’t that I’m doing a lot of stunt work. There’s a thing about fires in barns. I love all that and the underwater stuff – that was really challenging.”
“Physically as well as mentally. Jeff and I were a wee bit scared doing that. When they took us under the water, they take the mouthpiece off and leave you there. It is quite a depth you are at. I’d say those, a combination. When I’ve had a big story, they have always been challenging and enjoyable.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
