Emmerdale fans are convinced they have worked out John Sugden’s plan for Aaron Dingle after the pair were forced to cover up a brutal attack
Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve sussed out John Sugden’s sneaky game plan for Aaron Dingle.
Newbie Oliver Farnworth strutted into the village last year as John, who claimed to be Jack Sugden’s long-lost son (originally played by Clive Hornby). It didn’t take him long to charm the villagers and catch the eye of Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), while he got chummy with his newfound relatives.
But in the Dales this week, it all kicked off when Aaron brutally attacked Anthony Fox (played by Nicholas Day). Fans of the show know Anthony is Ruby Fox-Miligan’s (Beth Cordingly) estranged dad.
In a gobsmacking revelation, it turns out Anthony had been abusing Ruby since she was a teenager, and he’s actually the biological dad to her daughter Steph (Georgia Jay). After this secret was exposed, Aaron, haunted by his own past demons, went for Anthony with fists flying.

Thinking he’d killed him, Aaron spilled his guts to John – who then stepped up to shield Aaron by getting rid of the body. Fast forward to Friday’s episode (January 24), and the couple realised they messed up by forgetting to get rid of Anthony’s car.
A panicked Aaron was dead set they’d be rumbled by the old bill, reports Leicestershire Live. But then John flipped his lid, fuming at Aaron to “shut up” and laying down the law: “This time there is just too much for me to deal with on my own, do you hear me? “.
Now, Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve cracked John’s sinister plot for Aaron – with theories flying that John might either set Aaron up or, in a jaw-dropping turn, murder him. And get this, the armchair detectives are even whispering that John could be a full-blown serial killer.
Fans have ‘worked out’ what John is planning for Aaron
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan group, one sleuth suggested: “I’m wondering did John feel a faint pulse and when he got Aaron to leave, he ended Anthony’s life and is letting Aaron think he killed him? ” Another fan didn’t mince words, saying: “I don’t trust John, something doesn’t sit right with me about him. His very suss, there’s definitely more to his backstory.”
A third chimed in, agreeing: “Yep he’s dodgy so I think he’ll set Aaron up.” Someone else threw their hat in the ring, declaring: “People are saying he’s a serial killer and it wouldn’t surprise me. Poor Aaron.” Then another viewer added their two pence: “I think he finished the old boy off. He wants to frame Aaron or get him to be dependent on him the way he shouted at him to shut up.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
