Emmerdale fans are convinced there’s more to Jamie Tate’s ‘confirmed’ return to the ITV soap after a scene on Monday night, as Will Taylor guessed his stepson wanted revenge on Kim Tate

There was a major clue about the mystery person targeting Kim Tate on Emmerdale on Monday night, ahead of the big reveal.

Jamie Tate appeared to be named as the person teaming up with Peter and Will Taylor to bring down Kim. But fans were sure it wasn’t as it seemed, and there was another big twist on the way.

It was confirmed a couple of weeks ago that Will was targeting Kim with he help of her financial adviser Peter, wanting to destroy her and take everything from her. Soon it emerged that someone was behind it, pulling the strings and orchestrating the whole plan.

Their identity has been teased for weeks, with Peter warning Will not to back out claiming he would not want to cross the person in question. With Will torn over the plan and his love for Kim, there’s dramatic scenes on the way this Christmas.

But now a scene on Monday night may have given away who the person is ahead of the return. Will claimed he had worked it out for himself, and knew who the mystery boss was.

Will fumed at Peter over their plan, and claimed to know it was Kim’s son Jamie who was behind it all. Jamie and Kim have a fractured relationship, with him wanting to destroy her in the past.

Jamie left the show in 2021, faking his death in a car accident. Weeks later he returned to screens before being AWOL ever since.

Kim was devastated that her son wanted nothing to do with her, despising her. Will now believes it’s this hatred of his mother that has left him seeking revenge, using Peter and Will to do so.

He confronted Peter in the latest episode, figuring out Jamie was behind it. Peter questioned how he had come to that conclusion to which Will replied it “didn’t take much thinking about”.

Will said: “There’s only one other person who wants to take Kim down as much as I do. That bitter and twisted son of hers.” Peter didn’t exactly deny the news, instead asking if the plan was still on.

But viewers wondered whether it was all a red herring, and if someone else was coming back. One viewer said: “Red herring as I still think it’s Joe. Too obvious to for it to be Jamie!” Another agreed: “Well they mention Jamie as a way to throw us of the fact that Joe Tate is returning.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
