Belle has been trying to escape the violent grip of her husband Tom but as he ramps up abuse, including emotional blackmail, some fans have worked out how his creepy antics will be exposed
Emmerdale viewers are convinced Nicola King (played by Nicola Wheeler) is going to save abused Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) from her violent estranged husband Tom (James Chase). As fans of the ITV soap will know, Tom has been tormenting his wife Belle with violent outbursts, manipulation, and trying to isolate her from friends and family.
Since Belle finally mustered up the courage to end their marriage, she has been living at their cottage while Tom moved in with his uncle Jimmy King (Nick Miles) and his wife Nicola.
To catch a well-needed break from Tom, Belle left the village after Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) suggested she should visit her dad Zak in Scotland. But when Belle arrived home last week, Tom’s behaviour took an even more sinister turn.
Tom has gone to extreme lengths to try and win back his wife’s affection by buying her a dream car, which she rejected, and also running over Belle’s beloved dog Piper in a horrifying scene.
But in a creepy twist, Tom has secretly installed cameras in Belle’s cottage and he can watch her every move from his mobile phone. In recent scenes, he watched Belle undress in the bathroom and sleep in their bed.
Although Belle has previously confided in Charity about Tom’s behaviour, fans of the ITV soap are convinced Nicola will catch Tom spying on Belle from his phone and that’s how his abuse will be exposed.
Taking to a Reddit thread, one viewer asked: “Who do you think will be the first person Belle will tell about the abuse?”, with a second replying: “Curveball…. Maybe Nicola. Thinking as Tom is living there she notices odd behaviour and speaks to Belle who then opens up.”
A third chimed in: “Yeahh I was wondering this maybe she’ll see Tom watching Belle on the cameras”, while another added: “Or gets suspicious that he disappears at night.”
Although another fan thinks Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) will be the one to expose Tom: “I think it will be Lydia because she has a way of making people feel safe confiding in her”, they added.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
