Emmerdale John Sugden’s past murder victim has been ‘revealed’ in a game-changing twist
Emmerdale fans are certain John Sugden has killed before – and his past victim is someone fans know and love.
Soap newbie John (Oliver Farnworth) made his debut last year, as the supposed long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby). And it didn’t take long for him to make an impression on the village residents.
John has since settled into the Dales, striking up a romance with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) while getting to know his estranged family members.
However, this month in the Dales, things took a seriously dramatic turn when Aaron attacked abuser Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day), triggered by flashbacks of his own assault as a child.
Leaving him for dead, Aaron confessed what he did to John – who stepped in to protect Aaron and insisted they remove Anthony’s body from the scene of the crime.
John then disposed of the body but the couple later realised they messed up their cover-up, as they didn’t get rid of Anthony’s car. This week, the pair managed to smuggle his car into a local garage – where they plan to strip it into parts to destroy any evidence that Anthony is no longer alive.
However, amid John and Aaron’s cover-up, fans are convinced that John is lying about his identity and could be a secret serial killer. What’s more, viewers are convinced John is also responsible for the murder of a former village resident.
Sharing their thoughts online, fans reckon John killed off former star Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter). Viewers will recall that Nate left the village back in September, when he decided to move to Shetland.
But his exit left plenty of fans suspicious that Nate didn’t actually leave the Dales – and was murdered. At the time, fans thought he was perhaps caught up in a barn fire.
And now, viewers are convinced he was indeed killed off by none other than John. On X, one person said: “Still convinced John Sugden bumped off Nate in #Emmerdale – he is way too cold over Anthony to have not done it before.”
Someone else added: “Run for your life Aaron, John is a psychopath. Convinced he killed beautiful Nate.” A third agreed: “Aaron don’t trust John as far as you can throw him and he was last to see Nate leave the village.”
Echoing their thoughts, another chimed in: “I think he’s killed Nate (I don’t believe anyone has heard from him bar a few messages). John was way too calm and prepared to get rid of a body for my liking.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
