Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ true fate of Anthony Fox and it’s bad news for Ruby

Fans of the ITV soap are predicting a dark twist after Anthony’s murder.

Emmerdale fans are convinced Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) will ‘return from the dead’ in a shocking twist as John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) remains tight-lipped about how he disposed of Anthony’s body.

Last month, the ITV soap saw Aaron Dingle (portrayed by Danny Miller) deliver a savage attack on sexual abuser Anthony while at Caleb Miligan’s (William Ash) depot. Although Anthony was breathing when Aaron left the premises, upon his return, he discovered Anthony motionless and lifeless.

Aaron’s partner John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) intervened, efficiently disposing of the corpse, tidying up the crime scene, and dissuading Aaron from making any confessions.

A few days later, Aaron admitted everything to Ruby to prevent his mental wellbeing from spiralling further, and it was at this moment that viewers were dealt another shock.

Ruby (Beth Codingly) listened while Aaron confirmed that he had targeted her dad for revenge after realising that Anthony had sexually abused her. This brought back traumatic memories of his own abuse ordeal with his father Gordon.

But in an unexpected twist, Ruby told Aaron: “You didn’t kill him, I did”. Ruby discovered her dad Anthony in dire straits on the ground, though he was still breathing. After a tense exchange, Ruby suffocated Anthony and immediately told her husband Caleb.

John and Aaron decided to get rid of Anthony’s vehicle to make it look like he had left the village. But despite queries about the location of Anthony’s remains, John has remained silent which has prompted some viewers to believe Anthony isn’t dead.

Taking to Reddit, one Emmerdale fan pointed out: “What did John do with Anthony’s body? And why is no one asking John tell them what he did with it?”

They added: “I just have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ve seen of the body, and it may be an issue down the line. I hope not, no one deserves to go down for his death.”

A second stated: “Maybe Anthony isn’t dead…” While a third chimed in: “That has occurred to me, but I really don’t want to see that creep on our screens again.”

While another replied: “Neither do I. With the current set of writers who knows ?!”

“Like Joe?” another asked, comparing him to Joe Tate, who was thought to be dead before returning.

On X, another soap fan predicted: “Why am I now getting a sense that Anthony may not be dead and John has just kept him somewhere lol.

“Cos I don’t like the way they killed him off, which then means no justice for Ruby and the way John is just leading this cover up and won’t tell Aaron much #emmerdale.” (sic)

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
