The ITV soap took another agonising turn for Ruby Fox-Miligan on Wednesday, as the truth around her daughter’s biological father was confirmed.
Emmerdale has aired a devastating twist for Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) that has ripped her marriage apart.
Ruby has been facing the terrible reality that Caleb Miligan (William Ash) may not be their daughter Steph’s (Georgia Jay) real dad. After Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) sexually abused his daughter Ruby when she was younger the truth about Steph’s paternity has remained a mystery.
During Wednesday’s trip to the village (January 15), which is available to stream now on ITVX, Ruby received Steph’s DNA results, but she couldn’t bring herself to open the letter. She later confided in in sister-in-law Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) again and decided she didn’t want to know Steph’s DNA result and wants to never know the truth.
Unaware of the full story, Chas, at least, knows that Ruby was sexually assaulted all those years ago. Ruby left Chas and headed home to bin the letter but Caleb had already found it.
Full of anger and upset, Caleb confronted Ruby with the news that he isn’t Steph’s biological dad, unaware of his wife’s harrowing past.
Ruby couldn’t bear to explain the truth, pleading that Steph never needed to know and that they could get through this – but angry Caleb threw her out of Mill Cottage.
When Steph returned home, Caleb revealed that he and Ruby had split, this time for good. After Steph called him ‘dad’, he opted not to share the reason why, and in the village, was offered support by vile Anthony as Ruby looked on in the dark.
Emmerdale viewers have been left heartbroken by Ruby’s anguish in recent episodes and urge her to tell someone about Anthony’s abuse.
