One of the three secrets Leyla discovered before her death is close to the surface

Emmerdale fans were left feeling unsure on Wednesday (March 12) after Vanessa revealed to Mary that she’d seen some texts on Suzy’s phone.

During Wednesday’s instalment, Mary paid a visit to Vanessa and told her all about Marlon paying for Dylan to go to rehab and kick his drug addiction. However, Vanessa’s mind was elsewhere.

As Mary probed, Vanessa admitted: “I was going through Suzy’s phone, I remember that Suzy said Leyla had sent her a lovely picture of us together. Anyway, I just… I wanted to see it.”

She continued: “So I was going through her texts, and…” Vanessa then gave Mary the phone, and the texts from Leyla read: “Don’t throw your life away over one kiss” as Suzy replied: “It’s not just one kiss though… I’ve been thinking it for a whole now… I need to end things.”

Vanessa added: “You’ll see Suzy was having doubts about our relationship. She told Leyla she was thinking about leaving me.” Later, Vanessa asked Mary if their whole relationship was a lie, to which she responded that texts could mean all sorts of things.

Tracy then walked in and Vanessa revealed to her sister that Suzy had been having an affair while Mary attempted to damage control. To Vanessa’s shock, Tracy sided with Mary as she said: “this stuff is damning, sure. But Suzy was not a cheater, we just need to find out who her and Leyla were talking about.”

Unfortunately for Vanessa, both Suzy and Leyla were two of the three deaths caused by the limo crash. Suzy Merton was the first to die after she succumbed to a fatal head injury, and Leyla Harding was next after being impaled by a piece of glass.

During a special episode that aired last week, fans found out that Leyla walked in on Suzy and Mary sharing their first kiss after Suzy told Mary that she can’t be with Vanessa anymore.

Now that Vanessa has seen the texts, fans expressed how they feel with the truth finally being revealed. On X (formerly known as Twitter), @swarlanations wrote: “Finally! Vanessa knows Suzy didn’t love her and cheated on her and she’s all angry about it. Still not sure how I feel about Mary calling her “Nessy” but we move”.

@Winis_World added: “OMG Vanessa has seen Susie’s texts to Leyla?!” as @Emmerdale2dae teased: “Tonight, Vanessa learns an uncomfortable truth about Suzy…”

On a Reddit thread, u/SoapFan85 penned: “It’s only a matter of time before Vanessa has to find out the truth about Mary and Suzy, but I wonder how much she will figure out? Anyone who’s watched today’s episode will know Vanessa found some texts from Suzy to Leyla alluding to a kiss and there being another woman, and now Vanessa thinks there was an affair”

u/eesagud replied: “How convenient that Vanessa found that out. How could she find out anything else? Unless she found anything between Suzy and Mary? Both other parties are dead so unless its been shared with anyone else?”.
