Fans of the Dales are expecting one resident to reach new lows in upcoming scenes
Emmerdale fans think that a suspected “serial killer” in the Dales will “play the hero” after Chas Dingle suddenly collapses in upcoming episodes.
The ITV soap recently shared spoilers that show Chas Dingle collapsing on the floor while in The Woolpack pub, hitting her head. The incident happens just after her son Aaron Dingle and John Sugden announce their engagement after the latter proposes.
John overhears Chas expressing her reservations over the sudden engagement, and he becomes set on trying to win his future mother-in-law round. It’s John who ends up trying to help Chas after her fall as he tries to prove that he can be trusted.
Oliver Farnworth made his Emmerdale debut in August 2024 and was revealed to be Victoria Sugden’s half-brother due to their shared father. Due to his character being somewhat of a mystery, viewers have steadily grown suspicious over his arrival in the village, with some fans of the ITV soap convinced he’s hiding his true identity.
Oliver previously shared: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. The show has such a rich history, and the Sugden family is integral to that.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my character to life and working with such a talented and dedicated team.” Fans may also recognise the actor as playing the role of Andy Carver in Coronation Street before he was killed off by Pat Phelan – twice.

In recent weeks, John became embroiled in Anthony Fox’s murder after Aaron Dingle was convinced he had killed him during their fight at the depot. John came to Aaron’s rescue and offered to clear the crime scene of any evidence, including Anthony’s body.
Fans are convinced that John is hiding a secret – that being he is a serial killer. With the ITV soap recently showing Nate Robinson’s body underwater, theories have circulated for some time that John is behind the unexpected murder as he was seemingly the last villager to speak to Nate.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), @krishanmaharaj shared: “so predictable considering she express doubt over marriage” and then added: “just in time for John play hero, so that Chas forgets her distrust of him while the blame will fall on Ella is very convenient do you think?”
@Tatty0__0 echoed: “It’s Johns M.O when he needs to win someone over or control them.” On a Facebook fan page, viewers shared a similar train of thought as one wrote: “Think John will put something in Chas drink and make him look like hero who saves her” as another added: “Maybe that’s too convenient, but I wouldn’t put it past John.”
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
