Emmerdale fans are convinced they have worked out when Sarah Sugden will die, after the character’s recent heartbreaking storyline
Emmerdale watchers are bracing themselves for Sarah Sugden’s tear-jerking exit from the show.
The character, played by Katie Hill, has had a rough ride in the village. She’s Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) and Debbie Dingle’s (Charley Webb) daughter, which pretty much guaranteed her life would be anything but calm.
Hospitals have been a grimly familiar setting for her due to a life-threatening genetic condition. Diagnosed with the rare Fanconi anaemia at the age of six, Sarah has endured a bone marrow transplant, faced cancer twice, and even underwent a heart transplant. The fear of an early departure from this world has always haunted her.
Although she’s been fighting health battles, her love life was getting bits of sunshine until recently. With Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) growing closer to her, there seemed to be a glimmer of hope, reports Leeds Live.

But Jacob pulled back, scared of losing another girl after his former flame Leanna (Mimi Slinger) was chillingly offed by Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu). Jacob’s bombshell confession has shattered her, and now fans on social media are speculating about the inevitable end. They think Sarah might not have much time left, keeping tissues at hand for what could be another Emmerdale tragedy.
A fan pondered on a soap Facebook forum: “Do we know how long Sarah has left?” One viewer speculated grimly: “She probably won’t live to see 30 and it’s been said most of the time. I think they’re killing her off soon tbh as that could be Sarah’s grave that Cain is standing at.”
Viewers fear she will die soon
Another chimed in with concern: “Have they ever mentioned Sarah dying so much? Foreshadowing her death maybe? ” And someone else concurred, saying: “Irregardless of her life expectancy, Sarah herself has said multiple times that she probably won’t live past 21.”
Adding to the debate, a commenter noted: “This has been said at various times since her cancer and heart transplant. I don’t know if this is the writer’s foreshadowing or just the fears of a young girl dealt a bad hand.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
