Viewers spotted a plothole after Vanessa discovered the truth about her relationship

Emmerdale fans have spotted a blunder after Vanessa revealed to Mary that she’d found texts on Suzy’s phone that showed she had kissed someone else before she died.

Suzy Merton was one of the three confirmed deaths of the Valentine’s limo crash – Leyla Harding and Amy Wyatt were the other two who reached an untimely end. Suzy was the first to die after she hit her head upon impact, and as the others managed to escape, Suzy’s body was submerged under the water with the limo.

During Wednesday’s (12th March) episode, a worried Vanessa confided in Mary as she said: “I was going through Suzy’s phone, I remember that Suzy said Leyla had sent her a lovely picture of us together. Anyway, I just… I wanted to see it.

“So I was going through her texts, and…” Vanessa then gave Mary the phone, and the texts from Leyla read: “Don’t throw your life away over one kiss” as Suzy replied: “It’s not just one kiss though… I’ve been thinking it for a while now… I need to end things.”

Later, Vanessa vowed to Mary and Tracy that she will find out who Suzy had kissed as a guilty Mary tried her best to diffuse the situation before she got caught.

In the special episode that aired for Leyla and Amy’s funerals, viewers found out that Leyla had accidentally discovered three big secrets. First, she saw that Tracy had been stealing money from the farm shop till as she opened up to Leyla about Nate’s payments to Frankie suddenly stopping.

Another flashback showed Leyla walking into the GP surgery for an appointment with Liam but instead she stumbled across Manpreet looking at explicit images she had posted of herself.

The third flashback saw Leyla enter the room as Mary and Suzy shared their first kiss. This came after Suzy admitted her feelings towards her friend, and said although she loved Vanessa, it wasn’t the same.

However, fans aren’t convinced that Vanessa would be able to access Suzy’s phone, especially after she was submerged under the water. On Instagram, @tina12harbour questioned: “Why didn’t Suzy’s phone end up in the lake?” as @dclayton2014 replied: “Good question that”.

On a Facebook fan page, one viewer added: “Wouldn’t Suzy have had her phone in the limo so it would have been water damaged and broken?” as another fan wrote: “I thought that too, bit unrealistic especially as her and Layla were organising it all.”
