Emmerdale David’s Shop’s new owner ‘revealed’ after Eric sells up – and it’s a Dales legend

Emmerdale’s Eric Pollard has been forced to sell up David’s Shop – and now fans have ‘worked out’ which villager will buy it and be its new owner

Emmerdale landmark David’s Shop is set to get a new owner according to fans – and they ‘know’ who it will be.

The beloved shop has been a staple on the soap since 2009. And over the years, several residents have taken on the role of owner and manager, including David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden).

Right now, soap icon Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) owns it. However, it seems the shop could be getting a new owner anytime now, following Eric’s recent ordeal in the Dales.

Last month, Eric invested a sizable chunk of money in cryptocurrency – but it soon backfired. He was left in horror when he discovered that his accounts had been emptied.

Eric might have to sell his beloved shop

To make matters worse, he used fiancee Brenda Walker’s (Lesley Dunlop) savings as well – and ended up losing it all. Brenda eventually found out, leaving her both heartbroken and devastated.

Calling him “stupid”, Brenda lashed out at Eric for blowing her life savings, as well as risking their house, as he has taken out a loan – using the house as security.

And in Tuesday’s episode (December 3), things took a more dramatic turn when Brenda shares her doubts over whether or not she wants to go ahead and marry Eric, considering all of his lies.

What’s more, later on, Eric mused how he could sell his shop, in a bid to pay back Brenda her savings. Now, fans are certain they know who will buy the shop from Eric – and it’s a Dales icon.

On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: “It doesn’t look good for Eric & Brenda’s no expense spared future, but maybe selling the shop would help?”

Someone else chimed in and shared which character they think could buy the shop. They wrote: “Definitely, he said he will but I think Kim could buy it off him.” A third agreed: “Yes Kim Tate!”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
