EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has teased work on a new TV show away from Albert Square.
The Sonia Fowler actress, 41, shared a glam snap of her on Instagram stories and suggested she’s having a break from the popular BBC soap.
‘A little rest whilst filming a new TV show,’ she captioned the pic.
While we don’t know what show Nat is working on, it was recently reported that a voice recording session reportedly took place last month in London and actor Ricky Gervais, 63, is bringing big names along with Natalie being one of the special guests.
A TV insider shared: ‘The project is still in its early stages, but Ricky is super excited as he’s always wanted to make a show about cats.’
They added to The Sun: ‘He’s a big animal lover, so mixing comedy and pets is an ideal combination. And with his star cast on board, it’s bound to be hilarious.’
As for Natalie’s soap character Sonia, her life comes crashing down in EastEnders next week, as she and Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) are arrested for the murder of his wife Debbie at their engagement party.
Of course, as we all know, it was Reiss who actually killed her.
Defenceless Debs had spent years in a private hospital receiving round the clock care after suffering a stroke whilst taking a bath. With his wife in a coma, Reiss doted at her bedside despite forming a new life with Sonia.
After scamming Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) out of significant sums of money, he went on to kill wife Debbie in shocking scenes, smothering her with a pillow in a bid to get out of paying her care home fees.
Following Debbie’s death, EastEnders fans were quick to take to X/Twitter to point out that Sonia may be in serious trouble, after a series of unfortunate events.
Sonia manages to calm him down and the two head to the Vic for their engagement party – but the happiness is short-lived when they’re both arrested for murder.
Later, during questioning, the detectives let slip that they have physical evidence that Debbie was murdered.
