EastEnders star ‘lets slip’ Cindy Beale’s fate with telling comment after deadly attack

EastEnders’ Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt teased whether Cindy Beale will live or die after her brutal attack on the BBC soap, dropping a huge hint about her fate

Cindy Beale’s fate on EastEnders may have been confirmed after a telling comment from one cast member.

Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt dropped a remark about Ian’s future on the show as well as Cindy’s days on from her being left for dead. With doctors warning the family to prepare for the worst, they claimed it was too early to say whether she would be okay.

But speaking to The Mirror and other press recently, Ian star Adam hinted what the future looked like for the Beales, and whether Cindy would be in it. While he may have just been teasing and he didn’t actually give anything away, the BBC soap legend hinted that Cindy would live to tell the tale.

He remarked that the soap “couldn’t have Ian without Cindy”, and shared his hopes that things would be resolved after Cindy’s affair. Adam spilled: “Ian and Cindy are one of those love stories that will hopefully keep going. Hopefully, there’s a resolution to it and they find their way through it.

“I don’t think you can have Ian without Cindy, it’s Ian and Cindy. A bit like George and Mildred which funnily enough was our code names when we were coming back. Except when we cast George Knight and we had to change it to Richard and Judy.”

It comes as the cast also teased who the attacker might have been. Adam, Harriet Thorpe, Michelle Collins and Micah Balfour have told The Mirror and other press about the big twist.

With boss Chris Clenshaw confirming the attacker will be identified to viewers during the special 40th anniversary episodes in February, it’s not yet been confirmed if Cindy survives. Ian actor Adam teased Elaine star Harriet about the possibility it could be Elaine behind it. Meanwhile, Harriet confessed it could be any of the suspects as they all “want her dead”.

Harriet teased Elaine’s motivation for wanting Cindy gone. She said: “I think Elaine is and always has been about survival. There’s no lengths to where she’ll go to. She’s holding onto something that matters and helping things stay in her control is everything.”

She went on: “As we’ve seen in the last few weeks, she has an alcoholic daughter and tries to have a front all the time. Cindy has been tearing her down since the get-go. I think this is the final straw.”

It’s then that Adam hinted at Elaine being Cindy’s attacker, putting his co-star on the spot about whether she was to blame. Adam asked Harriet: “What are you like with a shovel?”. Giving absolutely nothing away, the actress responded: “I’m quite good at gardening, thank you.”

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
