EastEnders spoilers reveal Linda Carter faces more trouble next week, as a character heads back to Walford leading to a showdown on the BBC soap

EastEnders airs a showdown next week as a character returns to the BBC soap, spelling trouble for Linda Carter.

The character is desperate to get her life back on track next week, amid speculation she’s going to be killed off. Weeks away from a possible death for the character, Linda finds herself in turmoil yet again in upcoming episodes.

Just days on from Nish Panesar taking the blame for killing Keanu Taylor and being arrested after a fake confession, Linda has to deal with the consequences. Linda killed Keanu last Christmas, and she and The Six covered up the crime.

Alcoholic Linda had relapsed a year ago, and since the murder she has repeatedly hit the bottle, almost getting herself killed. But with her loved ones desperate to get her sober, Linda battles to stop drinking in upcoming episodes.

Her mother Elaine Peacock is relieved to see her sober, with her focusing on her recovery. Linda finds herself in a positive place for the first time in months, believing her hell is over.

But a character heads back to Walford and ruins this, soon asking why Linda is still free. Bernadette Taylor left Walford for some time away in September, struggling with her grief over her brother’s demise.

She had finally found out the truth after Linda confessed to killing Keanu. But after Linda struggled in court against Dean Wicks and was caught drinking, the police did not believe her confession.

She went to the police and confessed all, but they believed she was acting out and sent her home. Linda explained to Bernie how she’d tried to confess and Bernie raged, as she found out who else was involved.

Bernie soon left but next week she is back in Walford, and she’s raging about the Nish twist. Finding out Linda is a free woman and Nish has taken the blame, Bernie wastes no time in confronting the real killer.

Linda tries to explain about her failed confession, but Bernie lashes out over Nish taking the rap and warns her that neither of them will ever move on from what happened. Linda is left rattled by Bernie’s words, but will Nish’s fake confession be exposed?

Later, Bernie confronts Suki Panesar over her allowing Nish to take the fall. As Suki tries to calm Bernie down and stop her spilling the beans, how far will she go and will it work?

Bernie also confronts Kathy Beale, who apologises and asks for forgiveness over her part in the cover-up.
