In upcoming scenes, Sonia Fowler will watch on in horror as her engagement party is crashed by police officers who have come to arrest her for the murder of her Reiss’ ex-wife.
Sonia Fowler is set to be cuffed and carted away by police officers next week as Natalie Cassidy will be bowing out of EastEnders.
The beloved nurse has been dreaming of a new chance at love for several years and her wish appeared to come true when quirky Reiss Colwell (played by Jonny Freeman) showed up on her doorstep.
Unfortunately, the romance is headed straight for the rocks as cash-strapped and desperate, Reiss resorted to murdering his comatose wife after stealing money from her to fund Sonia’s IVF. To make matters worse, BBC One viewers will remember that the accountant framed his own fiancée for the crime.
Things will only be getting worse in scenes due to air next week as Reiss’ tricks work a charm on the authorities and they interrupt his and Sonia’s engagement party to make an arrest.
Sonia Fowler will be arrested for Debbie’s murder while Natalie Cassidy will take a break from EastEnders, ready to host a new show on Channel 4
Photos of the dramatic scenes relayed by The Sun show Sonia looking alarmed and devastated as a protective Reiss wraps an arm around to shield her from the coppers. His efforts will be in vain as other teaser snaps show Sonia being handcuffed by an officer, supposedly before being dragged out of The Queen Vic, where the scenes will be taking place.
While viewers of the London-based programme will have to wait to find out if Reiss will get away with his crime and allow his fiancee to take the fall, The Sun reports that Natalie Cassidy will be making the most of her character’s time away from the Square as she’s set to front a new show on Channel 4.
Following the success of the channel’s air-fryer programme, Natalie will be presenting a four-part series about consumer trends titled What’s The Big Deal? “Natalie will be taking a short break, just like many of her co-stars do when they have another project”, an EastEnders source said about her break from the show.
“Bosses always try to let stars spread their wings and if they can make it work with the often punishing soap schedule, then they’ll do it. Natalie’s really excited to tackle the project for Channel 4. This is another string to her bow.” The Daily Mirror has reached out to Natalie’s representatives and the BBC for comment.
Natalie Cassidy made her EastEnders debut at the age of 10 and has remained a familiar face in the soap’s line-up for 31 years. How will her exit play out and could she go to prison for murder?
