EastEnders’ Sharon is targeted in a heartbreaking crime – and someone close to her is to blame

Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) is the victim of a pre-Christmas robbery in EastEnders next week, which happens after she tries to do a good deed.

Forthcoming scenes in the BBC soap see the Walford icon is left heartbroken when opportunist thieves rob her home.

It all transpires after she opens her home once again to best friend Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).

The Queen Vic landlady packs her bags and storms out of the pub next week after her alcoholism spirals and leads to a confrontation with her son Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff).

After Linda seeks refuge at No. 45, Sharon assures Johnny set will set his mum on the straight and narrow. 

However, that proves to be a difficult task and it’s not long before Sharon has to give Linda a dressing down. 

Linda is later heading home when she has a nasty encounter with Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris), who is still feeling vengeful after finding out Linda was the one who killed her brother Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) last Christmas.

Shaken by their exchange, she then tries to buy some booze at the Minute Mart, but when Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) won’t serve her, she steals it instead. 

When Alfie reports back to Johnny, he learns that Sharon’s place has been broken into after a drunk Linda left the door open. 

‘The first Linda knows about it is when Alfie comes in looking for Sharon because he’s noticed her door is ajar and is concerned,’ actress Kellie Bright explains.

‘He discovers the carnage and then asks Linda, “What on earth are you doing?”

‘It’s yet another thing and I do think in that moment, Linda feels pretty awful as she knows she’s really messed up.’

Will the robbery prove the be the final straw for an already exasperated Sharon?

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 9 December at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
