Things aren’t looking great for Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) and Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) in EastEnders next week when Reiss’ crimes finally catch up with him.
Meanwhile, it’s the end of an era for Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) as she moves out of No.1, but things don’t go smoothly when the new owners are revealed.
Elsewhere, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) is back in Walford after her trip to the States to visit son Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), but her trip hasn’t gone quite to plan, and she has no choice but to ask for help.
George Knight (Colin Salmon) gives Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) an important mission, and Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) faces an ultimatum from Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) when his plan to cover his tracks backfires.
Monday August 19
Reiss is a nervous wreck as he faces Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) deadline and tries to convince Sonia to go for a day out to escape, but she refuses.
Sonia is touched when Kathy offers to throw her an engagement party.
Later, Phil turns up on the doorstep raging, and Reiss is forced to tell Sonia that he is supposed to pay him back today but can’t. Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) intervene to cool things down, and Sonia is able to buy them time by pleading with Sharon. However, Teddy decides to take on the debt from Phil and tells shocked Reiss. Reiss shakes on the deal, hoping it’s not too good to be true.
George keeps up the pressure to get Gina to find out who Junior’s mystery woman is. Cindy spots her trying to break into his phone at Beale’s Eels, and Gina admits what she’s doing, which Cindy quickly relays to Junior.
Later, Cindy is angry when Junior fails to show up for a secret meet-up, and things get worse when she arrives in The Vic and finds him introducing date Maxine to his family. He insists to seething Cindy that it’s just to distract his family.
Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) is working himself into the ground, trying to make money for Maya Houssain (Bharti Patel), and Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) is hurt and frustrated when he prioritises a job over her.
Elsewhere, Kathy returns from America and breaks the news to Phil that Ben is in a bad way, and Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) is staying on to try to get him a better lawyer. She asks Phil to put all his efforts into helping Ben’s appeal.
Tuesday August 20
Sonia is worried about her eight-week viability scan and rattled when Sharon reveals that Teddy took on the debt, as Reiss hasn’t told her. At the scan, Sonia confronts Reiss and tells him it’s madness to make a deal with someone they barely know.
When they arrive back on the Square, Martin privately warns Reiss that the police have been round asking questions about him and Debbie. Back at home, Reiss has a panic attack and Sonia tries to calm him down. They head to The Vic, where they are enjoying their engagement party until the police arrive and arrest both Sonia and Reiss for Debbie’s murder…
Cindy is still furious with Junior about the date situation, but things get worse when Gina gossips that Junior slept with Maxine. Cindy gives Junior the cold shoulder, and he accuses her of overreacting, but Cindy gives him an ultimatum – if he’s with her, he can’t be with anybody else.
Jean wants to know why Harvey didn’t make it home last night, but he says he kept getting fares, so he took them to earn more money. In a bid to get back in Jean’s good books, Harvey offers to help Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) by collecting baby Charli from the nursery, but he falls asleep in the hot car, with Charli in the back. Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) spots them in time, and they rush to the hospital as Harvey despairs over letting this happen.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is upset as she moves into No.20 and is forced to leave No.1 behind. Denise Fox (Diane Parish) vows to help her rebuild her life. However, they are unaware that No.1 has new owners – Teddy has bought it as a place for him and the boys to start again.
Wednesday August 21
Sonia and Reiss are questioned by the detectives, who have physical evidence that Debbie was murdered.
Teddy reveals to Billy and Honey Mitchell (Perry Fenwick and Emma Barton) that he’s bought No.1, and they fill him in on Gray Atkins killing both Tina Carter and Chantelle Atkins in the house. Teddy is unfazed, but clueless Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) makes a tactless remark to furious Chelsea, and Teddy is forced to march him round to No.20 to apologise.
Teddy reminds Harry of the trouble they’ve left behind and that they need to make friends. He suggests they host a housewarming party and invite their new neighbours.
Jean and Harvey’s relationship hangs by a thread.
Elsewhere, Junior tells Gina that he’s finished with Maxine when he knows Cindy can hear them. Cindy’s pleased that Junior has chosen her.
Thursday August 22
Teddy starts inviting people to his housewarming party and even manages to get Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) and Chelsea on side with his charm offensive. At the party, Chelsea is stunned when Teddy reveals he insisted on a last-minute clause in his deal to buy Gray’s house.
Harry sidles up to Teddy and tells him that ‘you know who’ has been sniffing around their old place to find out where they’ve moved to, but Teddy insists he’s got everything under control.
Meanwhile, George inadvertently gives Junior some relationship advice that he applies to his affair with Cindy.
