EastEnders reveals Suki and Eve proposal outcome

“If Eve doesn’t come back, I will kill you!”

EastEnders has aired Suki Panesar’s reaction to Eve Unwin’s surprise public proposal.

Last night’s (August 7) episode picked up with Eve on one knee right after she popped the question at the Queen Vic.

Suki avoided the question and said she needed “some air”, but an embarrassed Eve told her to not bother and stormed off, with Stacey Slater following her.

Later on, Stacey confronted Suki to defend her friend, hinting at Suki’s ex-husband Nish having played a role in Eve’s unexpected move.

Nish has been trying to drive a wedge between Suki and Eve using the reappearance of Ayesha Siddhu, the first woman Suki ever fell in love with.

“Eve should know better. She knows what Nish is like,” Suki said, but Stacey noted that Nish may have a point.

“You two are pretty close,” Stacey said of Suki and Ayesha, leaving Suki rattled.

After witnessing the failed proposal, a gloating Nish confronted Suki, rubbing it in her face that Eve had left her.

“If Eve doesn’t come back, I will kill you!” Suki hissed after pushing him to the ground.

That evening, Suki was ruminating about the proposal whilst looking at photos of her and Eve when she got a text from her partner.

“I’m not coming home tonight,” Eve’s message read.

Will Suki and Eve make up?

Ahead of the scene, EastEnders newcomer Laila Rouass reflected on her character Ayesha’s feelings as she watched the proposal.

“It comes out of the blue, and it’s going to be really hard for Ayesha to control her emotions,” the actor said. “She is so overwhelmed by everything that’s happening and how she feels about Suki having seen her again for the first time in so many years. So it’s going to be a very pivotal moment for Ayesha, that’s for sure.”

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
