EastEnders’ Reiss caught in a shocking lie as his crime is exposed

Yet another of Reiss Colwell’s (Jonny Freeman) lies catches up with him in EastEnders next week, as he continues to duck and dive after murdering wife Debbie.

While he smothered Debbie to death in her care home bed in the hope of ending his money woes, Reiss is still up to his eyeballs in debt, but he finds himself cornered when one of his latest cons raises partner Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) suspicions.

In recent weeks, fans have seen the couple get engaged, with Reiss proposing with Debbie’s ring he stole from her body in the morgue.

While they initially agreed to keep their engagement a secret, in a bid not to fuel the local gossips who were already in overdrive, news soon leaked out.

This week’s episodes see Sonia saddened not to be able to show an excited Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadds) her ring.

Reiss told her it was stolen when he was ‘mugged’, when in reality, he sold it to Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), in order to gain some extra cash and pay off his debts to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

Later, Sonia bumps into Eve and Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) in the caff and spots Suki wearing her ring, after Eve popped the question to her partner in the Vic the previous week.

Sonia is confused, but Eve covers for Reiss saying she got it at a pawn shop.

Smelling something fishy, Sonia gears up to play detective, leaving Reiss backed into a corner.

Will he admit what he’s done?

EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday 13 August at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
