EastEnders fans are convinced that villain Gray Atkins could be set for a return to the BBC soap
EastEnders may be preparing to welcome back one of its most notorious characters.
Gray Atkins, played by Toby Alexander-Smith, first appeared on the scene in 2019 and quickly established himself as a villainous figure. The disgraced serial killer embarked on a killing spree, claiming the lives of his wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer), Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami), and Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White).
Chantelle was his first victim, suffering months of domestic abuse before deciding to escape with her children, aided by Kheerat. However, Gray discovered her plan and, in a tragic turn of events, pushed her onto an open dishwasher where she was impaled by a knife.
Three months after Chantelle’s death, Gray murdered Shirley’s sister Tina when she confronted him about a crime he had manipulated. Her body was later found buried under the Argee Bhajee.
Gray’s final Walford victim was Kush, who he pushed in front of a tube train. Kush and Whitney were planning to flee, but Gray, obsessed with Whitney, killed Kush, reports the Daily Star.

Fortunately, Gray’s reign of terror ended in 2022 when his crimes were exposed, leading to his imprisonment. However, recent developments in the soap have hinted at an update on Gray’s situation.
Chelsea Fox, portrayed by Zaraah Abrahams, was stunned to see a ‘for sale’ sign outside her residence at number 1. She and her former sister-in-law Bernie Taylor, played by Clair Norris, quickly deduced that Gray was behind the sale.
EastEnders enthusiasts are now buzzing with speculation about Gray’s potential comeback, despite his current incarceration. On a Facebook fan page dedicated to EastEnders, one fan speculated: “Ok I’ve got food for thought… Why have they mentioned Gray so randomly and expectedly I think they are bringing him back.”

Another fan expressed their eagerness for his return, commenting: “I hope they bring Gray back. He’s up there as one of the most horrible villains ever on EastEnders.”
A third suggested: “He could return as Chelsea could visit him in prison.” Further fuelling the rumours, another viewer predicted: “I think Gray will Return for the 40th Anniversary of EastEnders.” Another hoped for a dramatic twist: “Need Gray to break out of prison and do a killing spree for the 40th anniversary,” they shared.
