Former EastEnders star Cliff Parisi has broken his silence on a potential return to the BBC soap as he discussed his acting career during an appearance on The One Show
Former EastEnders star Cliff Parisi has teased fans with a cheeky hint at a possible return to the soap, saying “never say never” during his recent chat on The One Show.
The 64-year-old actor was all grins as he chatted about his current role as Fred Buckle in Call The Midwife.
But when hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp prodded him about a comeback to Albert Square after a decade and a half, Cliff, who played the lovable Minty Peterson, didn’t hold back.
Alex quizzed: “We have to ask because we said we would, Cliff, would you ever return to EastEnders to play Minty?”

To which Cliff dished out: “You know what, I loved playing Minty, I had such a ball and you know I’ve been watching the repeats, and I remember how much fun it was and what a laugh we had!
He went on to say: “So never say never, that’s all I’d say. I really had fun doing it and I loved the show and I’m really grateful for everything it’s done for me,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
Adding a twist, he remarked: “So never say never, but I don’t like going backwards, I like to keep my eyes on the forward.”

Cliff became a fan fave as Minty and waved goodbye to the drama in 2010. His exit was a big deal for viewers since he’d been a fixture on the show from 2002, leaving Walford behind for new adventures following some tough times.
At the time, Minty was left devastated by his failed relationships and their effect on his life. He decided to leave the East End’s hustle and bustle behind and start afresh elsewhere.
Minty’s exit was marked by a touching goodbye with his close mates in the community, making his departure emotional but also hopeful.
Despite his Walford chapter closing, Minty’s storyline left a lasting impression on viewers who had become attached to his funny yet vulnerable character.
However, since leaving the show, Cliff has kept himself busy. Not only does he have a recurring role in Call the Midwife, but he’s also appeared in Doctor Who.
The One Show airs Mondays-Fridays at 7pm on BBC One and EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am
