Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) is rushed to hospital in EastEnders next week amid concerns for his health.
There is excitement in the air in Albert Square as the residents prepare for the Christmas lights switch on.
Ian has been charged with organising the festivities, but it soon becomes clear he has bitten off more than he can chew.
He asks fiancée Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) to help share the load, but she is preoccupied with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), after the pair resumed their affair earlier this month.
She also leaves Ian in the lurch after finding out that Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho) is being woken from his coma.
Cindy is panicked, worried Kojo will reveal what happened during their confrontation that led to his injuries, following his discovery of Cindy and Junior’s affair.
As Ian rushes around trying to sort out last-minute details, he suffers chest pain at No 45.
His mum Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) calls for an ambulance, and at the hospital, she is resolute Cindy is to blame for Ian’s stress.
Ian’s health was previously cause for concern for the Beales, as last year, he suffered a heart attack during a row with Cindy while they were still living in France.
Will Ian pull through again?
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 2 December at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
