EastEnders viewers will be heartbroken as a beloved Walford legend is set to leave the famous square after more than a decade on the scene in BBC’s Albert Square
An EastEnders icon is saying her goodbyes to the soap following a dramatic few months.
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) first set foot in Walford back in 2013. As the matriarch of the Carter clan, Linda has become a firm-favourite with viewers.
She has also played a part in several big storylines over the years. From Linda’s battle with alcohol to her rocky romance with Mick (Danny Dyer), her time in Walford has not been short of drama.
So much so at the moment, as she continues to deal with the murder, and cover-up, of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters). Fans will recall how Linda ended up stabbing Keanu at Christmas as he attempted to strangle Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
Linda, Sharon and the rest of The Six ladies ended up framing Linda’s rapist Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) for the crime, with him currently behind bards.
However, things have taken a dramatic turn for Linda – who is an alcoholic – in the last week. Amid the upcoming plea hearing for Dean’s trial, Linda was back on the bottle.
It was also revealed that Dean has been pressurising Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) into tormenting Linda, sending her sinister letters. And things reached a boiling point between Linda and Johnny (Charlie Suff) as a huge showdown ensued, with Johnny wishing his mum was dead.
Heartbroken, Linda took to the bottle once more and ended up choking on her own vomit while asleep. Johnny rushed in and an ambulance soon arrived, whisking Linda off to her hospital.
Luckily, she managed to survive. And EastEnders spoilers for next week reveal that Linda is set to leave Walford for time in rehab. During Monday’s episode (August 19) Linda has a meeting with her keyworker to discuss going into rehab, as Elaine has offered to pay for it.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
