To say things between Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and daughter Penny (Kitty Castledine) are not good in EastEnders right now might be somewhat of an understatement – but things get even more complicated for the pair next week.
Fans of the BBC soap have seen Jack choose to sacrifice Penny after the truth about Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) causing the club crush emerged last week.
Denise Fox (Diane Parish) outed her daughter’s secret to the rest of the Fox-Brannings, seeing the damage it was doing to the family, with Jack blaming Penny for her half-sister Amy Mitchell’s (Ellie Dadd) serious injuries she sustained in the crush.
But just as Chelsea – who’d inadvertently caused the incident by tampering with the online booking system to sabotage Penny for stealing her job as club manager – there was a twist.
Jack then asked his family to vote between Penny and Chelsea, reasoning that Penny was unlikely to face prison time. Penny was then devastated when Jack’s deciding vote left her facing punishment.
Next week, Penny seeks revenge and teams up with Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) to bring her father down.
As viewers will remember, Jack also made an enemy of Harry after attempting to have him arrested for dodgy dealings at The Arches.
After he and Penny obtain some serious dirt on Jack, the pair blackmail him in forthcoming scenes, with Harry giving him until the end of the week to agree to his terms.
However, later in the week, he makes a worrying discovery about Harry and informs Penny, worried about the implications it could have on his daughter.
Will it be enough for Penny to take a step back from Harry? And will father and daughter ever be able to reconcile?
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 21 October at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
