EastEnders viewers have been left fearing a Walford icon is about to leave permanently as they continue to struggle and are yet to open up or seek support from family and friends
EastEnders fans have been left fearing for Phil Mitchell’s life after he continued to struggle in silence.
In recent episodes of the BBC One soap, Phil (played by Steve McFadden) has been displaying signs of depression and appears to be feeling extremely lonely.
When Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) showed up in the Square at Christmas, Phil took the opportunity to turn his attention onto his old pal.
On Tuesday (January 7), Phil made the big decision to hand over his shares of the Boxing Den to Nigel behind his business partner Sharon Watts’ (Letitia Dean) back.
But during the latest trip to Walford, Nigel tried to convince Phil he was making a mistake by handing him half of the gym, but Phil’s mind was made up.
Later in the day, Nigel found Sharon outside and updated her about Phil’s plan, leaving her furious as she headed over to The Vic to confront Phil.
She tried to push Phil for answers but he looked distant and failed to give a real explanation. Moments later, Phil looked teary-eyed as stood up from the table and said: “I’m done, I’m tired.”
Sharon later led an intervention alongside the rest of the Mitchell clan and confronted Phil over a possible medical diagnosis.
Phil retorted by denying he was suffering from any condition, adding he didn’t need to keep his house tidy because he’s a ‘bachelor’.
But his antic has sparked major concern among EastEnders viewers who think he could be planning to take his own life.
Taking to X, one fan warned: “They better not mess around and try do a Phil suicide story #eastenders”. A second asked: “Is Phil having a suicide storyline? #EastEnders.”
A third chimed in: “Just told my friend that they’re gonna give Phil a [suicide-storyline] and look all he’s saying is “I’m tired” and Grants is coming back.”
“Phil giving away his possessions randomly…..I think I know where this is leading”, suggested one fan. “Protect Phil Mitchell at ALL costs. #EastEnders”, urged another.
