EastEnders fans spot clue funeral is Linda Carter’s – but she ‘doesn’t die’

EastEnders viewers are convinced a funeral being filmed by the cast on the BBC soap will involve Linda Carter amid fears she’ll be killed off, but she might not actually die

Fans of EastEnders are convinced a major twist is on the way that will lead to the funeral of a much-loved character – but they won’t actually be dead.

Linda Carter fans are fearful for the character’s fate after pictures from filming teased a shocking death. Cast members were on location filming a funeral, with it heavily hinted it was Linda’s.

She was missing from the snaps, as her mother Elaine Peacock, son Johnny Carter and pal Sharon Watts attended a service. The coffin was white with a pink rose on, and fans immediately wondered if Linda dies.

Her children Nancy and Lee Carter are set to make a huge return to the BBC soap for the scenes, snapped filming with their co-stars. But some viewers think that while the funeral will be Linda’s, she might not actually die.

It’s been teased that Kellie Bright’s character will be killed off more than 10 years after her debut. There’s drama at the graveside too, with Nancy fighting with her grandmother Elaine and Johnny hitting the booze to deal with his apparent grief.

But fans are predicting a major twist for the soap in the coming weeks, and that the funeral might be fake. Viewers believe that Linda’s death and funeral could be a dream sequence or a future scenario, with present day Linda being faced with what could happen if she doesn’t stop drinking.

Taking to social media, one fan theorised: “Perhaps it’s Linda dreaming or something about the consequences if she keeps drinking. Then she sees that Johnny is doing the same, people fall out etc, and she wakes up to a realisation? Or she sees a therapist and they ask her to imagine something like they did with Amy?”

Another fan wrote: “I sense a fake funeral,” as a third said: “Maybe it could be a dream sequence?” A fourth viewer posted: “I’m convinced it’s a special episode where Linda is sent around the square A Christmas Carol style to see what she’s doing to her friends and family with her drinking.”

It come as other fans believed the funeral would be Shirley or Mick Carter’s and not Linda’s. Taking to social media, one fan posted: “Shirley or it will be one of George’s daughters, I don’t think it’s Linda as that’s too obvious.”

Another said: “I reckon it’s a funeral for Mick,” as a third added: “Possibly Mick’s body has been found.” A fourth fan guessed: “Shirley Carter funeral looms,” as another said: “Shirley? Or they’ve found Mick’s body.”

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
