There’s explosive EastEnders scenes this Christmas as a heartbreaking betrayal is revealed, and the latest episode of the BBC soap teased who would expose Cindy Beale

Viewers of EastEnders are convinced they know who instigates Cindy Beale’s downfall after a telling scene.

Friday night’s episode, that initially dropped online on Thursday, saw a character rumble what Cindy and Junior Knight had been hiding for months. Elaine Peacock heard rival Cindy’s confession playing from a laptop, which had been playing Freddie and Anna’s birdsong audio.

Freddie had accidentally left his equipment recording weeks earlier, recording Cindy telling ex David Wicks all about “settling” for Ian, sleeping with Junior and still being in love with George Knight, Junior’s father. With the birdsong recordings being put on CDS recently, the confession had not been uncovered.

But with the latest episode seeing Freddie’s laptop left running with the bird calls, as Elaine walked into the room she got there just as Cindy was heard speaking to David. It’s then that Elaine heard her confession about Ian and George, and then her stepson Junior.

Elaine was left reeling over what she’d heard, finally rumbling the affair ahead of Ian finding out on Christmas Day. Chaos is set to ensue as the truth and a series of accusations are revealed, and now fans think they know what leads to the big moment.

After a trailer teased a USB stick with the recording on would end up being played out for all to hear, fans think Elaine is set to expose Cindy in front of everyone. Viewers believe Elaine will bide her time and say nothing, before exposing Cindy to her family on Christmas Day, triggering her downfall.

One viewer posted on X: “Elaine is definitely gonna play that recording over Christmas dinner isn’t she and not tell anyone that she knows til that moment.” Another viewer posted with the theory: “Oooo after today’s episode on iPlayer, I think its’ safe to say that Elaine will be blackmailing Cindy.”

Another viewer said of the looming episodes: “I couldn’t care less about this Cindy and Jr affair. BUT Cindy’s feud with Lauren and Elaine finding the recording has spiced things up so ROLL ON CHRISTMAS DAY!!!” A further comment about the twist said: “Absolutely YES Elaine finding the tape. I’m glad she did cos you know now it’s gonna kiiiccccckkkk offff!!!”

The reactions from fans kept on coming, with one post reading: “Cannot wait for Elaine and Cindy WW3! Get that Cindy exposed!” Another viewer said: “Oh, I can’t wait for the Christmas episode now!” as a further fan said: “ELAINE KNOWS!!!! YESSSSS.”
