EastEnders fans predict trouble for Martin as they ‘rumble’ Ruby’s ‘true intentions’

EastEnders fans are convinced Martin Fowler will be ‘screwed over’ by Ruby Allen after she bought the market stall for him, as they predict a ‘downfall’ for the fan favourite

EastEnders enthusiasts are bracing for drama as they foresee rocky times ahead for the beloved Martin Fowler as the iconic soap approaches its 40th anniversary, with partner Ruby Allen at the centre of the storm. Martin’s been through the wringer recently, facing the potential loss of his livelihood when the market stalls were under threat from redevelopment plans.

But after Ruby’s blackmail antics and Councillor Baker’s ‘sabotage’ involving rat droppings, Honey and Stacey decided to ‘play dirty’, ensuring Martin kept his job. In a moment of joy, a tipsy Stacey declared Martin ‘one of her favourite people’, planting a kiss on his cheek while Ruby watched on ominously. In Thursday’s episode, Ruby grilled Martin about the innocent peck, to which he reassured her, “Stacey’s a mate, she was helping me out,” before exiting the scene.

Later, Ruby eavesdropped on a chat between Ian and a disheartened Martin lamenting over working “at another man’s fruit and veg stall.”

The plot thickened as Ruby was spotted propositioning Ian before they both turned up at the Vic requesting champagne. A bewildered Martin learned from Ian that he no longer owned the stall, as Ruby unveiled her grand gesture—selling the bracelet her father gave her to purchase the stall for Martin, reports the Mirror. The couple seemed ecstatic as they kissed, but fans are wary, suspecting Ruby has ulterior motives and is plotting to ‘screw over’ Martin.

“Ruby is gonna screw Martin over now she’s bought that stall for him isn’t she? #EastEnders,” speculated one fan on X, previously known as Twitter. Another pondered: “Does anyone else get the feeling that Ruby bought the stall so Martin can’t leave her now?!” Some viewers are convinced Martin will ultimately choose Stacey over Ruby, spelling drama for Martin: “Ruby needs to forget about Martin long as Stacey about.” Echoing this sentiment, a third chimed in: “Martin is head over heels for Stacey.”

The speculation doesn’t stop there, with some fans predicting a grim fate for Martin in the ’40th anniversary shooting’ after Phil’s gun made an appearance in Wednesday’s episode. “WAIT! I’m wrong. It’s blatantly MARTIN who gets shot! Look at all the foreshadowing? ” exclaimed one viewer, referring to Honey ordering shots of Death Throes.

Meanwhile, Cindy remains determined to uncover who left her ‘for dead’ on Christmas Day. Initially suspecting the Knights, a chat with Junior has her suspicions turning towards the Beales.

With Ian, Lauren, Peter, and Kathy all in the frame, Cindy’s investigation intensifies. By the episode’s close, she confides in Junior that Kathy was her assailant – but is she correct?
