Eagle-eyed Coronation Street fan spots return of unique detail after 20 years

One eagle-eyed Coronation Street viewer has proved their loyalty to the show as they spotted a unique detail that hasn’t been seen for over 20 years, in the latest episode of the beloved soap

One Coronation Street viewer has spotted a unique detail that hasn’t been seen for over 20 years.

The soap might be going through some difficult times, with plenty of cast changes, and the Platt house about to blow up, but some fans are still enjoying their tri-weekly episodes.

The eagle-eyed viewer took to Facebook to share their findings, posting two pictures of two cars, one appears to belong to Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) and another is a police car, but the fan spotted the cars have the same number plates. They wrote: “Noticed on tonight’s Coronation Street that Kevin is driving a Vauxhall Astra which was a police car in episodes from 20 years ago.

“Left picture is 2025 right is 2005. 50 year old male, size 10 shoe and has a thing about registration plates,” they added. Others in the comments were shocked by the finding, with one replying: “That is so incredible of you to realise. Hats off.”

Another put: “What a spot,” and a third added: “How did you even notice that?!”

The detailed spot comes after fans believe they’ve figured out when Mason Radcliffe will make his return, amid rumours that he’s not actually dead. The young character (played by Luca Toolan) first appeared on the cobbles in 2023 as a school bully.

Earlier this month, events took a terrifying turn when Mason’s brothers tracked him down for reporting them for the murder of Betsy’s mum Becky. Realising he needed to leave Weatherfield for his own safety, as his brothers would likely seek revenge, Mason made plans to depart.

But disaster struck when Matty and Logan found Mason and stabbed him with Dylan Wilson’s (Liam McCheyne) zombie knife. Abi Franklin (Sally Carman), whose own son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) tragically died after being attacked in 2021, tried desperately to save Mason as he bled from a stab wound in the children’s play area.

Mason was swiftly taken to hospital as soon as the ambulance arrived, but it wasn’t long before there were shock waves on the street, as it emerged that Mason had tragically passed away. The cobblestones are left reeling over the heartbreaking news.

But fans aren’t convinced by this turn of events, with some believing that Mason might still be alive and caught up in a jaw-dropping witness protection plot twist. Speculation is rife among viewers, who have taken to social media to share their hunches about when he’ll reappear.

According to online chatter, fans are betting he could make a spectacular entrance at his own funeral, causing a proper soap opera stir. On a Corrie fan page on Facebook, one user wrote: “Who else thinks Mason will return at his funeral?” Another followed suit saying: “I was thinking that.” Then, a third chimed in: “If the witness protection twist is true that would be epic.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
