Emmerdale’s Will Taylor, played by actor Dean Andrews, was feared dead after a showdown with Kim Tate and Joe Tate – but is the character leaving and does he die?
There were fears a character will die on Emmerdale this Christmas Day, as Will Taylor collapsed after a row with Kim Tate.
Dean Andrews’ character was finally exposed for his plan to take down his wife, despite him having changed his mind days earlier. But as Kim vowed they were over moments after their vow renewal, disaster struck as Will suddenly collapsed.
Kim didn’t seem convinced though, as she stared confused as her partner hit the floor after clutching his chest. As he begged for her to hear him out and forgive him, he stumbled forwards, knocking down everything in his path.
After a flashforward had teased a struggle at Home Farm with the Christmas tree knocked down, it soon became apparent it was caused by Will’s sudden health scare. But what is wrong with Will, and will he be okay?
It wasn’t revealed in spoilers that Will would be exposed, nor that he would be taken ill. His fate now remains unclear, but there could be some clues as to whether he survives or not. Of course fans will have to tune into Boxing Day’s episode to find out what’s happened and if everything will be okay. But is Will leaving the show for good?

What we do know is that this isn’t the first time a scene like this has occurred for Kim. Decades earlier in the very same room her husband Frank Tate died from a heart attack, and Kim simply walked out and left him.
But Kim is a changed woman from all those years ago and she clearly loves Will. Whether she will forgive him and move forward with him remains to be seen, but how will his daughter Dawn react to his sinister plan for Kim?
Actor Dean recently spoke to The Mirror and other press about the big episode, and at no point did he suggest he was about to leave the show, or that Will would face death. This is soap land and anything is possible, so is Will about to meet a dark end, or might he be saved? Could he be faking his sudden health issue to throw Kim off amid her plan to walk out on him?
Viewers will have to wait and see! It comes amid his plan with Peter and Joe Tate to destroy Kim was exposed by Joe himself. Joe had claimed that Will had sought out Kim’s son Jamie Tate in a revenge mission, when he and Kim were on bad terms.
Joe told Kim that Jamie turned this down, so he took Will up on the offer – while Will actually had no idea who he was in cahoots with, only knowing Peter was involved. Joe is now claiming that he was looking out for Kim, setting Will up – but what does he really have up his sleeve?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
