Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd – who joined the ITV soap as David Platt in 2000 – has shared a throwback picture of himself with the rest of the cast back in the ’90s
Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has shared an adorable throwback to his early days on the ITV soap with ex co-star Helen Flanagan. Jack is best known for playing David Platt on the soap for the last 24 years, while Helen played Rosie Webster intermittently from 2000 until 2017.
Posting two photos on Instagram of himself with the rest of the Corrie cast, Jack wrote: “Me and Flanners at Sally’s wedding to Danny I think? And Audrey’s birthday party. Few big dogs there,” he wrote. In one photo, Jack can be seen with his on-screen mum Helen Worth (Gail Platt), Tina O’Brien (Sarah Platt), Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe) and Helen.
In the second photo, David is seen at a party with Tina, Helen, Sue Nicholls (Audrey Roberts), William Roache (Ken Barlow), Jenny Bradley (Rita Tanner), Eileen Derbyshire (Emily Bishop), Anne Kirkbride (Deirdre Barlow), Tracy Shaw (Maxine Peacock), Amanda Barrie (Alma Halliwell), John Savident (Fred Elliott) and Steven Arnold (Ashley Peacock). Helen commented on the post, writing a smiling face with hearts for eyes.
Jack joined the cast of Coronation Street back in 2000 and has been at the heart of some of the soap’s most dramatic storylines. However, his personal life is far less dramatic – with the actor engaged to partner Hanni Treweek. The Corrie star proposed to Hanni in June, with the couple sharing a photo of Hanni’s diamond ring in an intimate snap.
Hanni wrote on Instagram: “05.06.24 I said YES to forever!!!” Before meeting Hanni, Jack was with Lauren Shippey for 16 years – and the couple share two children, Nyla and Reuben. Jack also has one child, Greyson, from another relationship.
Speaking to OK! in a previous interview, Jack said: “We were together for about a year before they met. You don’t want to introduce a new partner to small children too soon.” The couple added that they were on the same page about starting a family of their own one day.
It’s set to be a dramatic few weeks for the Platts, with Gail being rushed to hospital next week after experiencing pain in her arm. Gail recently revealed to her children, Sarah and David, that she had a holiday romance in Thailand with returning character Jesse, played by John Thomson, but neither of her kids think he can be trusted, leading to a family argument.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
