A beloved Coronation Street star has confirmed she’s back filming on the ITV soap – months after their character said their goodbyes

A Coronation Street fan-favourite has revealed that they’re back on set, sending fans wild months after their character’s departure.

Sair Khan, who brought Alya Nazir to life on the cobbles since 2014, stirred up quite a few captivating storylines over the years. Despite Alya bidding adieu to the street earlier this year, in reality, Sair was off embracing motherhood, celebrating the arrival of her baby boy in April.

Onscreen drama had teased viewers with the hint of a budding romance between Alya and her boss Adam Barlow (played by Sam Robertson), but she chose to jet off to Dublin for work instead.

But on Wednesday (September 11), Sair delighted followers by sharing an Instagram snap of her script, teasing with the caption “I’m Backstreet,” reports the Liverpool Echo.

In April, Sair Khan became a mum for the first time after enduring a 22-hour labour with her partner Nathan Chilton. She described the experience as an “absolute rollercoaster”.

Sharing the news on Instagram, she wrote: “He’s here! Okay, when I said ‘Spring awakening’ in my last post I didn’t mean ‘keep’ me awake. The new parent zombie look is definitely a thing isn’t it.”

She continued: “More importantly our little boy is just marvellous. Very serious and curious about the world. He’s super strong and so resilient for joining me on the absolute rollercoaster that was our 22 hours of labour. We didn’t quite get the birth i’d hoped for but that’s okay (two birth pools, no water birth).”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
