Colson Smith recently confirmed he was leaving Coronation Street after 14 years on the hit ITV soap, and fans have now ‘figured out’ how his character Craig Tinker leaves the cobbles
Corrie viewers reckon they’ve sussed out the dark turn for Craig Tinker’s dramatic leaving do, with Kit Green smack in the middle of it.
Corrie’s own Craig (iconically played by Colson Smith) became an instant hit after debuting on the iconic street at the tender age of 12. He’s since etched his name into viewers’ hearts, taking them through plenty of twists and turns, from donning the police uniform to navigating heartache and pulling off a staggering transformation.
But, Craig’s days are numbered when it comes to Weatherfields highs and lows. The plot thickened this week when Colson Smith confirmed he’s off from Corrie after a spectacular 14-year run, planning to take a final bow this year. He took to social media, dropping the bombshell on Twitter and flaunting an Insta snap in full copper mode stating:.
“Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker’s time on the Cobbles is to come to an end in 2025. I’ve loved every single second of my 14-year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world,” he poured out, reports Lancs Live.
Colson didn’t stop there, adding: “I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. I’ve learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy.”
Now, with whispers of Craigs exit from Corrie rustling the grapevine, fans are convinced they’ve cracked the code to his farewell storyline pointing fingers at dodgy Kit Green (played by Jacob Roberts).
The streets of Coronation Street were rocked last year when Kit arrived on scene as Bernie’s (Jane Hazlegrove) estranged offspring, and it wasn’t long before the drama kicked off. Fans have spotted his dodgy dealings, with Kit (playing the part of a corrupt cop to a tee) seen pushing boundaries and tweaking rules whenever it suits him.

Not only did he show mainstay Beth Tinker (Lisa George) the door from Weatherfield but whispers amongst viewers suggest this wrong’un might be behind copper Craig’s looming departure – with some devoted soap watchers worrying he might even be gearing up to bump Craig off!
Spilling the beans on a Corrie fan page on Facebook, one clued-up viewer speculated: “I’m sad that they have got rid of Craig. I’ve got a feeling he might start investigating Kit and Kit Kills him or gets him sacked.”
Another concerned fan wrote: “Think he will try and expose Kit and Kit kills him! ” While another jumped in with their two cents: “I am wondering if this might be the way they write Craig out? Have him bring down Kit and either die or move on to another job in another part of the country.” And yet another agreed, stating: “It’ll probably be Kit that gets rid of him- somehow!”
