The actor confirmed a friend is returning to the cobbles in a storyline likely linked to one of the recently confirmed exits
Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley has said he is ‘so excited’ as he confirmed his friend is returning to the cobbles in a storyline likely linked to one of the recently confirmed exits.
Fans of the ITV soap have recently been left wondering what is going on behind the scenes at the long-running show after a number of exits were announced in quick succession at the start of the year.
One of the more recent announcements came from actress Charlotte Jordan who confirmed that she will be bowing out of Weatherfield in 2025 after four years in the role of Daisy Midgeley.
Charlotte, who joined Corrie as Daisy Midgeley back in 2020, said in a statement: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities. It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.”
Now, George Shuttleworth actor Tony has revealed Amy Robbins is back filming on the cobbles as Daisy’s mum, Christina Boyd. During her last stint in Weatherfield, Christina caused her fair share of trouble for her daughter with her return coinciding with Charlotte’s planned departure from the soap later this year.
Sharing a picture of them both together, Tony wrote on Instagram: “WooHoooo!! So excited my buddy @amylouiserobbins_ is coming back to @itvcorrie to cause some bother (no doubt) as meddlesome Christina!! Hold on to your hats boys!!”
And his followers were quick to respond to the news with delight. @nbellis33 said: “Fab news!” @tanyarileysmart commented: “Omg , can’t wait , amy robbins fantastic. Need more of amy on TV.” @prinny1968 wrote: “Great news can’t wait to see her.” @avril_and_her_art replied: “Yessss. Love this meddlesome unpredictable character. Hope she stays after Daisy goes.” @callum.manning11 added: “Omg so excited.”
Amy previously played Defence Barrister Milligan on Emmerdale in 2022 during serial killer Meena Jutla’s court case and she also appeared in BBC One rival EastEnders as Caren in 2019. Others, however, will known that she is best known for, Dr. Jill Weatherill in former ITV medical drama The Royal.
Amy has also played Philip Ryan in the BBC school drama from 2009 to 2011. He also played Vinnie Dupe, the geek without chic, in STV’s comedy Being Victor, and William, in BBC1’s Last Tango in Halifax. However, they may also get her confused with her famous sister, Kate Robins, who recently appeared in Netflix’s After Life and BBC’s EastEnders and is the mother of comedian and Inbetweeners and Celebrity Juice star Emily Atack.
And it’s fair to say it is an acting family as Amy and Kate’s brother Ted Robbins has had roles in Ackley Bridge, The A Word, Mount Pleasant, Bad Education and Coronation Street.
