Coronation Street’s Stu Carpenter star takes on ‘nerve-racking’ job amid soap ‘exit’

Actor Bill Fellows made his debut in the ITV soap as Stu Carpenter back in October 2021

Coronation Street star Bill Fellows has given fans a look at his latest ‘nerve-racking’ job amid rumours he’s leaving the cobbles. The actor made his debut in the ITV soap as Stu Carpenter back in October 2021.

Viewers were first introduced to the character when he inadvertently saved the vital piece of evidence which showed that Corey Brent was guilty of the murder of Seb Franklin months earlier in May 2021.

The former Navy man was living on the streets at the time and came across the promising footballer’s belongings when he dumped them after causing Seb’s death.

After some convincing from Nina Lucas, Seb’s bereft girlfriend, and Asha Alahan, Stu went to the police and eventually, just as he was about to do a runner with his dad, Corey was shipped off to the police station in the back of a van by Gary Windass. Soon after, Kelly Neelan, who had been wrongly convicted of Seb’s murder, was freed and later came across Stu on the streets.

Once she found a home back in Weatherfield, Kelly came to Stu’s rescue and he’s since found his own home on the street, living with Yasmeen Metcalfe and working as a chef at her restaurant Speed Daal.

But since losing his granddaughter Eliza when she shipped out to Germany to live with her dad, life hasn’t been the same for Stu in Weatherfield, with him now turning his focus to helping Weatherfield High bully Mason Radcliffe turn his life around.

Actor Bill has reportedly filmed his final scenes for the soap and this week, revealed he was filming another one-off TV show. Taking to Instagram, the soap star confirmed he’d filmed an upcoming episode of Mastermind.

Captioning a picture of him opposite the show’s host Clive Myrie and with his competitors in the dark and tense studio, Bill wrote: “Nerve racking but great fun.” And his fans and followers were quick to respond.

@clairefox72 said: “Well done!” @slawrenceactor commented: “This is brilliant Bill.” @frankhamjoanne8 replied: “Will be a joy seeing you on Mastermind. Well done.” @philguy26 added: “Well done Bill!”

Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that Bill has landed himself a new role in a BBC comedy. BBC’s new comedy series, Smoggie Queens, which follows a close-knit group of LGBTQ+ friends in Middlesborough.

The series will also feature Steph’s Packed Lunch presenter Steph McGovern and Drag Race’s Michelle Visage. as well as Peaky Blinders actress Charlotte Riley. It hasn’t yet been announced who he’ll play in the new series, but in the BBC show, he will also join former co-star Alexandra Mardell, who played Steve McDonald’s daughter Emma Brooker in Corrie.
