Coronation Street’s Platt home fire: Who is in the frame for the horrifying blast with loved ones trapped inside

The Platt family’s beloved home will go up in flames in shocking scenes and someone is responsible

Coronation Street is set to be rocked by more drama as the new month gets underway as the Platt family’s beloved home will go up in flames in shocking scenes.

Fans of the ITV soap already know that David Platt is currently in the bad books of notorious gangster Harvey Gaskell. It’s become clear in recent weeks that he is being sought out by Harvey’s thugs after taking money which belonged to him, after it was offered to David’s sister Sarah Platt by Harvey’s brother Damon Hay.

At the end of last year, viewers saw that David was confronted by Radcliffe brothers Matty and Logan, but one is now behind bars for the brutal murder of their own sibling, Mason.

But David’s troubles were far from over. Weeks after waving goodbye to his mother, Gail, David the dog was ran over and left for dead before being found by neighbour Michael Bailey, while Lily Platt was also handed a note by a stranger, which mentioned the stolen money. David’s wife was also kidnapped, making it very much seem like the family is being specifically targeted.

Now, a terrifying blaze is set to burn through the family’s beloved home, destroying not only bricks and mortar but also the lives of David and Shona’s family, and those close to them.

Corrie fans tuning in from Monday (February 3) will be left to wonder who the mysterious hooded figure we see pushing a petrol soaked rag through the letterbox of No. 8 is. And when the fire is proven to be arson some of the street’s best known residents start to feel the heat and find themselves forced to try and convince the police of their innocence.

But who is looking likely to be in the frame? According to previously released spoilers Ruby Dobbs, Lily Platt and Sam Blakeman sneak into No.8 and start to live stream a séance after getting bored at Sarah Platt’s birthday celebrations at the Bistro.

Abi Webster

Spotting the live stream and seeing matches on the video, Toyah Habeeb races over to the house and throws the kids out. Meanwhile, Abi Webster is on the warpath having realised Toyah shopped her to social services and seeing her at number 8 heads inside to confront her.

Caught up in a PTSD episode, she lashes out at Toyah knocking her unconscious before fleeing the house. Did she come back and start the fire to cover up the attack on Toyah?

Leanne Battersby

Also creeping around the cobbles is a drunken Leanne Battersby, feeling lonely and angry at the world. Is she responsible for the devastating inferno?

David Platt

Or could David be to blame for the blaze? His feud with gang lord Harvey has ramped up a gear in recent weeks, with Shona already having been kidnapped as a warning. Is Harvey’s gang behind the arson or has David gone to extreme lengths to get the money from the house insurance to repay Harvey the money he stole?

Anyone else?

Spoilers for the upcoming episodes previously revealed that after the blaze, Kevin Webster admits to his sister Debbie that one of the jerry-cans is missing from the garage and after reviewing the CCTV footage, he spies a hooded figure searching for one…
